Muffy, I actually have 5 E Chadwick books on my shelf waiting to be read, other books keep jumping in. I do like to read them in sequence and waited ages to get The Scarlet Lion at a cheaper than usual price as I had read other books featuring Richard and John although it is supposed to be stand alone. I shall try and read it nextnow you ahve got me looking at them.

Ann I've just read my first ever Elizabeth Chadwick...really enjoyed it...was impressed with how she, like Philippa Gregory, (my favourite) stuck to historical fact.

I'm waiting for Lady Of The Rivers to be available in soft back..or a tad cheaper on the Kindle...in the meantime I'm reading two.

One I read when I'm having a soak in the bath (can't take kindle obviously)..s I'm reading Catcher In The Rye by J D Salinger upstairs.......

and Mark Of A Druid (a freebie) on my kindle.

Enjoying both. x

Morning Mersey Doodles, sorry I did not get back to you yesterday, but better late than never.
I got a charity find from the Cancer Shop when visiting the OH last week
Black Cross by Greg Isles. Have read him before, and not bad. So at £1.50, won't matter if I do not get on with that one.

And, as it was Christmas, I took advantage of the 2 for £7 at the supermarket, and bought, but have not started yet:-

The latest Tess Gerritson, Gravity,
Also:-
The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly
Virals by Kathy Reichs
Payback by Simon Kernick.

I only read in bed at night, as I can find plenty to occupy me in the day. So this lot will keep me going for a while

Emma Philippa Gregory writes a lot of good historical novels which appear to stick closely to the facts.Try The other Boleyn Girl and The Boleyn inheritance.

Another author who writes 'factual' historical fiction is Elizabeth chadwick.

I'll let you know Julia, I have always been fascinated by their stories, such a colourful family. And the father used to own the big house at what is now Batsford Arboretum in Gloucestershire.

Oh Ann, our very own Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth House, Derbys., was a Mitford sister, Deborah.
I bet the book is a good read.

Ann, Morning, yes, they are absolutely brill. books. I'm on one at the moment, and think I managed to find another in the charity shops. Perhaps by now, I am up to date with her, but will still keep my eyes open.

Have bought 2 of Dan Brown titles Angels & Demons and The Lost Symbol.
