Dermot

Dermot Report 14 Mar 2012 15:09

Just finished 'A Thief in the Night' by John Cornwell.

All about the sudden & unexpected death of Pope John Paul 1st, known as 'the smiling Pope'.

I was hoping to learn something new concerning the many & varied rumours of the cause of the Pope's untimely death. Disappointingly, nothing fresh was forthcoming. A pity!

'The Midwife's Confession' by Diane Chamberlaine. This was recommended to me on another website and it is a rattling good story. Haven't quite finished it but thoroughly enjoying the writing.

PIty, I would have appreciated your comments on The Swan Thieves. Never fancied the Historian.

I have just finished Improvising Carla by Joanna Hines, a thriller, very good too, been sitting on my book shelf for about 3 years.

Saw "The Swan Thieves" by Elizabeth Kostova, in the library, but it was a very large hardback copy. So I got "The Historian" also by Elizabet Kostova instead. MERLIN, you should read it.
I see that you are researching Dracula, Vlad the Impaler. Well, he gets a BIG mention.

Am also reading " The Forest" by Edmund Rutherfurd. It was a Christmas present, a paperback copy, so not too heavy to hold.

Am enjoying both books. Will need to read The Forest more than once, so that I can get to grips with all the connections.

Am reading Against All Odds by Paul Connolly, a true
story of his time in St Leonards children home in London/Essex.

Not bad for 99p from Am***n. Think i may need a tissue or two.
