Still reading Far From the Madding Crowd...am about 3/4 of the way through it now and am only just gripped....ever so flowery descriptively with a very slow moving story.

Beautifully written...but not one for a speed reader like me to do her usual race through...which is a good thing really...about time I slowed down and smelled the flowers lol x

Mick, do you read Isaac Asimov? our son intoduced me to them years ago. Mostly i will read anything that is in print as long as it isnt Barbara Cartland! Have been known to read the cornflake box if nothing else about!
Get through at least three books a week. When i belonged to the childrens library, I was told off for bringing a book back too quickly, when I brought it back the same day. It was a Swallows and Amazons book, I remember.

I know it is widely available, but this is looking through someone elses eyes, its not a novel, it is giving both sides to the story. did it happen or didnt it, where is the proof?

No idea, i havent got a kindle

Yep they are throat sweets, nasty things,

You can get it in some christian book shops, its almost a sort of "another prospective" seen from another side, like science versus history, if that makes sense

Just finished 'Before I Go to Sleep' a first novel by S J Watson. Its central character is Christine who has lost her memory and every morning she wakes up, has to fill in the blanks. Day after day! Very good plot and really enjoyed it until the middle went a big saggy. Good, psychological thriller nevertheless.

(on my Kindle). BC XX

Whilst in the hospital last week, I came across a book in the Day Room of the ward. It was' Iris and Ruby, by Rosie Thomas.' So I thought I would have a look at it. It is not the usual kind of book I would buy and read, but it was unputdownable. So much so, that it managed to find its way into my bag when I came home. But,but, I did leave another in the Day Room that I had finished to replace it.
It is set in the backdrop of wartime and the present day, in Egypt, and centres on Iris, and her wartime love affair, and her troubled grand-daughter Ruby of the present day.
A thoroughly good read, from which I learned alot about the British in Egypt in the 1940's. A love affair, but no smut. A wayward grandaughter, and her love for a young Egyptian boy.
I reckomend this book, I really do.
