Just after the war my gran used pigs cheeks to make brawn. she also cooked chitterlings & sheeps heads.
I can still remember the smell of the lungs she used to boil for the cat!!!

I was always told, that every part of a pig is edible, but the squeek.
Old saying from me mothers days.
But, it is becoming true these days.
I have seen some of the fashionable TV chefs using pig's cheeks

i ate horse once in belgium it tasted ok going down
till they told up what it was then

Id make him eat dripping on toast as a punishment.

easy peasy with toenails.....you just sprinkle them on top of a trifle along ith the chopped nuts..........hardly anyone would notice,,,,,,, ;-) ;-)..

but we both like almost the same foods,just few odds that we differ on,,so he gets a treat now and again and usually cooks it himself,,,,,,,,,,

No I did what i usually do when I make something different.

I specifically tell them they are NOT ALLOWED to eat it...it's NOT for children and far too rich for their sensitive taste buds.

So we eat it while they had Macaroni cheese......they BEG for a try...we relent.......and now they LOVE it...and can i cook the special pork stew for THEM next week please.

im just thinking that chitterings are intestines,dont know for sure lol. think ive heard it somewhere,but im probably wrong.not known as a domestic goodess in my house.ha ha. :-D :-
Muffy.always wanted to taste pigs cheeks after seeing them cooked on master chef,but thought they were quite expensive?where did yu get them from?? :-D
