*shudders* on several occasions have tried peanut butter - think it is the texture rather than taste that gets to me

Love it. Put it in gravy, beans, on toast and anything savoury.

Loved it thick on toast when pregnant with son - he loves it. Couldn't stand it when pregnant with daughter - she hates it.

It IS nice with peanut butter. Tried it recently.

Lyndi

I 've never seen cubes, but know they were made as I bought a small tin at a boot fair for brother-in-law. It was about the size of 6 Oxo cubes in a row and it once held Marmite cubes.

Haha TW, you reminded me of a time I was staying with my sister, and at breakfast we had all three marmites and had a tasting session. Would agree with you - guinness was favourite, champagne bottom of the list

Love Marmite, hate twiglets, it's like they've tried to disguise winalot with a marmite dip. lol

It's surprising how many people expect marmite to be like bovril, and actually compare the two but they are two entirely different products. Bovril is BEEF extract. Marmite is made from the leftover dregs of brewing yeast, and the marmite factory in Burton on Trent was supplied by Bass brewery almost next door.

For a limited period they also did Guinness marmite, using the yeast dregs from the Guinness brewery. Now you could taste the difference in that, and it was slightly yummier. they also did a champagne one, but that was yuk.

Years ago when my son was small I made a veggie hotpot. Son turned up his nose until I told him it had marmite in, then he wolfed it down lol. I am sure that for a time you could get marmite cubes, like oxo
.

Gwyn in Kent

It's reeaally good on hot buttered crumpets.

I agree, I would often buy 'own brands' for many items, but not for Marmite.
