I always keep any perfume I have in it's box but feel it's a shame not to display the bottle/s I have been informed that if perfume is exposed to the light it evaporates more quickly. Not sure if this is true and whether the fragrance changes if you keep perfume for too long which is never in my case as I use it daily when I have some.

Thank you but I am not very likely to buy any.

I wear about one puff of perfume a month and have three, Chanel No5,L'Air du Tempe and Opium, carefully kept in their boxes in my drawer where they have been for a good seven years now. I am hoping they won't go off just yet.

When I worked in the factory I had 64 different Estee Lauder lipsticks at one time and the full range of the perfumes in production at that time.

Liz ~~ Occur was Avon, some of the Avon fragrances were a bit ropey but every so often they came out with a nice one. The best thing about them was they were very innovative with their packaging the bottles were usually pretty, sea horses, pretty ladies etc (they probably evaporated faster that way displayed on dressing tables)

Do you remember Max factors little black cat holding its bottle of Hypnotique?

I used Occur for a while, wasn't it by Avon?

I also used Charlie, the original one. I had a boyfriend who worked on the rigs and one time I wrote to him and smothered the letter in Charlie perfume as a joke. He told me later that he had the job of handing out mail, he was taking the mickey at the pongy envelope till he realised it was addressed to him lol

Strange how smells bring back memories and the names do too, my friend used Tabu, when we were in our teens.

What a great thread for reminiscing.

Christmas present.

Thick black line in the eye socket. Now,my eyelids don't show anyway so it must have been really effective.

There was that other make-up range in Woolworths too wasn't there. It had a sort of black silhouette logo.

Oh Avon

I used to buy a perfume called Occur ,anyone remember that ?

Edit>> OMG just looked on google it's still available and was launched in 1963... I wasn't in my teens then so when I bought it ,it must have been a popular product going for some time.

But it was a great 'look' Sharron !

You were very up-market..... Just a Miners mascara for me and maybe an Outdoor Girl lipstick.... My baby-sitting wages didn't stretch very far.

Yes Anne The colours were not subtle - I seem to remember light beige, medium beige and probably a dark beige.

Me ... I was a medium, no blending just caked on, if you had no lippy it doubled as that too...!!

Don't remember many orange faces though, we were trying too look pale and significant :-(

GlasgowLass Report 7 Jul 2012 23:34

Panstick! OMG I was talking about that stuff recently.
I rememember girls at school who thought they were supposed to colour in their whole face with it. ( no blending involved)
Classrooms were full of very shiny. bright orange faces!

I used to buy Old Spice for dad too he loved it, there's still a bottle sitting on the bathroom shelf and hes been gone nearly 25 yrs..!

Yes Gwyn I remember the Hai Karate ads, the similar one now is for Lynx,
I guess there's nothing new. Impulse use the same attraction concept don't they :-)

EDIT
Must check out if Je reviens is still available. I'd forgotten I liked that

Anyone remember Hai Karate and the weird adverts, showing men fending off the women?

I used to like Je Reviens by Worth, but as others have said our skin and tastes change, so it might not suit now.

Patchouli is lovely.

I have never been allowed to use joss sticks at home. Dad brought a packet home once and my grandmother died unexpectedly the next day so he is afraid of them.

Always used to buy Old Spice for him as presents. I love the smell of that.
