Don't think so Paula, although some of them are a bit of a pain, we have a high fence and big scratchy Hawthorn and Blackthorn trees between us and those at the very end.

They would also have to climb over the Summer House which fills the entire end corner.

I hope they are not inside now because there has just been an almighty thump from upstairs, had better go and investigate. M

Went upstairs, could see nothing untoward except a tennis racquet on the spare room floor. Haven't been in there all week since No.1 son came home for the weekend so he could have left it there. Don't know where it came from though. M

Oh my goodness, at the moment, in the garden are seven, no nine, eleven huge great Crow type birds. Rooks, I think, as there are a lot of them, AND four Magpies, all squabbling over a few soggy Ritz Crackers I put out.

I hope my Fairies are not big noisy birds after all.

Thunder has stopped and the sun is out again but someone has a strimmer going, someone else a pressure washer and another has decided it is now time to sit a rev his motor bike up.

Time to go and get tea, I think. M

Just an update, they, whoever they are, have been "at it" all Summer and this morning I went down the garden to find all six candles sitting on the table out of their little glass votives.

It has been one or two or sometimes three most mornings.

Worst of all one had a huge juicy spider sitting in it, lucky I don't mind spiders.

Someone was very busy last night. M

Had they lit them?

Maryanna, have you tried sticking the candles in with blu tack, might make it harder for them to be pulled out if critters doing it but if people were coming in to do it they would cotton on and still remove them.

I would want to sit up and watch lol it's really strange

Oooohhh, I love a good mystery. But I do like to know the answer eventually. I have some spray-on glue if you want to try that. It is not super glue. It is for sticking down photos, or for craft work, things can be repositioned as required so probably not too serious for big animals such as people and squirrels and rooks? Although it might make the beaks want to stick together if they are using them to remove the candles. :-|

The trouble is you might catch the fairies in it. Ferries would be able to break free though.

Sheep, we have already covered, they can't climb fences.

Piskies, we live in Somerset not Cornwall.

I am still inclined to go with the Fairies, as I am usually away with them, but I have a nasty feeling it could well be those horrible squabblely Magpies and their nasty squawky offspring that are to blame..Although I don't like the thought of coming down one morning to find a Magpie stuck to the table !

As much as I hate to say it, Autumn is coming and the table and brolly will be covered and the candles will be put away for the Winter, so that should put paid to any shinannigans and maybe by next Summer whoever it it will have forgotten the fun they had this year and will leave the blinking things alone.

Unless it's those Fairies.....................................................

Well, for anyone that added their thoughts last year here is an update.

For the last couple of mornings a few candles have been on the table.

This morning I was looking out of the window and spotted this naughty behaviour in practice.

He wasn't too sure because we have a new table with a glass top which is a bit slippery.

He actually took five of the six candles out of the holders as I was watching and flew into next door's garden with them.

I am waiting for her to notice five night lights sitting on her grass.

They cant taste very nice as they are Citronelle ones.

Puzzle solved. No Fairies unfortunately, just those naughty Magpies.
