Red Christmas Card Envelopes ...

I bought 2 birthday cards for the twins whose grandparents live next door and I hadn't thought that the dark blue envelopes would be hard to read their names but I used a silver biro pen which made their names clear to see. Just pleased that I could hand deliver them though.

I sent quite a few with green or red envelopes but used white labels on them. I have also received several red ones with no delays or apparent problems.

I have found similar difficulty with deep blue envelopes, too.

Like you, Emma, I try to ensure white / cream - clarity for all concerned!

It has just been announced on the news that Canada Post are going to eliminate most home delivery next year! (Not that they deliver to many homes nowadays.)

Also, they are going to vastly restructure - and stamp prices increase in March. It's usually in January, so this two month delay is indeed a bonus!

This is very true and I stuck white address labels on my red envelopes and made a mental note not to buy cards with coloured envelopes again.

A card I had bought had a red envelope and I
decided to send it in a white one as even I couldn't
read my own writing on the red, so postman had no
chance.

Well, I found the dark green ones I wrote were worse than the red this year, but you have made a good point Barry. The postmen can't find it easy with some, especially if the writing is small or faint as well.

... create difficulty reading the recipient's details, methinks!

Why is red the colour of choice by many card manufacturers, I wonder?

Anyone have thoughts about red envelopes?
