Hello Michael,
I had to laugh when you said about writing the meds down. My OH has been ill recently and on liquid morphine and the slow release tablet. apart from loads of other medication. My list goes stroke x 2 (thats his stroke tablets) asprin x 1, tummy x 1 pain liquid x1 pain tablet x1 with the times. well I understand it. My daughter who is a nurse comes in and says MUM what you doing to him surely you cant understand what you given him.
I'm sure the nurse will get use to whatever way you jot it down. dont be like me thou and think oh I write that down in a minute and forget.
Thinking of you,
Anne x

hi yippe I,m back on line was off all day yesterday and most of today well I did not get out just about to go when it hissed it down so spent most of the day reading to have some thing to do,
susan-nz I do have a meter which I got a while ago free it came with ten test strips but when you buy replacements they cost the earth so tried the doctors they said I could not get them on prescription. the reason I have to make a note i have liquid morphine already its to make sure the the new meds will be the right strength as they will be slow release ones .
the pain killers i also have are taking longer to kick in hence liquid morphine which i only take as a last resort.
would you belive it in the last 4days i have had 3 letters and 1 form from the dwp two saying i cant have pension guarantee credit only saving credit the third saying i will get both, now today i get a form requesting details of my savings theres a laugh details of dla, and a wage slip from my occ pension so i filled it in emitting to add dla also telling them i have already told them i only get a wage slip once a year from my former employers. that's in april each year i have been telling them that for the last ten years told the all details are on file let em pick thebones out of that, what a waste of money on postage.prob have a phone call now so i will have to go all over it again. still i don't have nothing else to do only play games with them, lol.
on the lighter side i have had a good day to day just a bit boreing with no internet still cant complain it,s on now.
now i have a lot of emails i must answer after being off line i have had 8 from my sister in America she must be thinking i,ve popped clogs so i will have to disapiont her lol. :-D :-D :-D

Hi Michael,

Glad to read the palliative nurse has finally visited you and can offer you more pain relief. My Dad had his meds pre packaged by the pharmacy. They were on a roll and he could just tear off the right package for the right time of the day, ie: breakfast, lunch time, dinner and bed. It was a great help to him and the family, no mixing up the drugs. :-). Might be easier than writing down or maybe it is the extra morphine that needs to be recorded.?

Hope you managed to get out for some fresh air. Keep warm.

Hi Michael, I am glad things are starting to get sorted out and you are getting help from Palliative care people and others.

Best of luck to your son for things to go better for him and his wife too, maybe the flat not being ready is a sign he isn't meant to move there, but to go back with his wife.

Whatever happens I can tell he will be there for you and your wife all the time, so he deserves some good things in his life now.

Take care if you go out, the wind is so strong.....

Good to hear the palliative care nurse has managed to get to see you. Hopefully the new medication will keep you pain free.

I hope you are able to get out for a bit tomorrow, just for a break, but make sure you wrap up really warm. The last thing you need is to get chilled.

Have a good night's sleep.

kandj Report 12 Feb 2014 21:34

Well that is good news Michael. Let's hope that the change in medication will make you more comfortable and pain free. Spelling doesn't matter, the nurse will be more interested in the times you take the morphine tablets. I hope you are able to get out for a little while tomorrow, don't get blown away though!! Keep smiling. xx

Michael I am so pleased you have had a restful day. Good to hear the nurse is seeing you tomorrow. Hope you do get some help with taxi fare. The added expense is a worry when you are ill .
Hoping your son can get things sorted out in whatever way is best for him.xx

michael2 Report 11 Feb 2014 23:00

thank you all I have had a restful day to day no worries just a chill day and surprise the palitive nurse phone today she is coming on tuseday delay has been becourse of staff leaving and sickness, so hopefully that's another job done the nurse will be here tomorrow pm, to see what she can do for me I think she can get me a card so I can get cheap taxi far I think it will be half price which will help.
son cant move in the flat as the roof is leaking was surpposed to have been done but they have cocked it up but I think he will give his marriage another go, they are a least talking now.so that will be a bit of weight off my shoulders, as we only have a one bed flat he has to sleep on the sofa and has to get up to go too work at two thirty am six days aweek so he don't get much sleep which is not good as he is a lorry driver. :-D :-D :-D

Hopefully, another job you can cross off your list Michael. It is mega irritating to have to chase people to do what they are paid to do, and so draining in energy too.

Take it easy now and I hope you manage to get a decent nights sleep. xxx

Glad it looks as though the insurance problem is sorted but it is very disappointing about McMillan or Palliative care whatever. Not what you normally expect from them is it? It is not so much the care but the help you should be getting with finances, travel etc. Good job your niece has put a care plan together for you.

Try not to get stredded over things though. you need your strength to cope with the chemo and stress won't help. Thinking of you still.
