Morning Michael, you must be so relieved that your niece has sorted out the care package for you and your wife after her op. How lucky you are to have a good family supporting you both, I hope things go as well as possible now. You have certainly done a lot since your diagnosis to make things as easy as possible for everyone to cope with and I hope the chemo will continue to be manageable too

Hello Michael,
I haven't spoken to you before but I have been reading this thread from the beginning. I'm glad you have the support of the "genes family" they are great aren't they when things get tough and you just want to unload. Thinking of you and your wife and I will be reading this thread to see how things are going.

Great news Michael that you all enjoyed your family meal together and your wife has changed her mind and will have her operation as originally planned. No doubt she is apprehensive I know that I would be in her situation but if its needed to improve her own health then needs must.
Perhaps the ward staff will offer a chance to speak to their social worker so extra support can be put in place on her discharge if necessary.

I hope that you are managing your chemo treatment without too many problems.
Take it easy now and look after one another. xx

Morning Michael, glad your meal out went well and also that your wife caved in to the pressure and agreed to get her op over and done with. I am sure everyone will rally round to help you both out if necessary and other care doesn't come into play.

Have a good day and keep positive.

Hello Michael, So pleased you had a nice time with your family tonight. Even better now your wife has agreed to get her operation over with. It will be better for both of you. I do hope you get some care support for you and your wife after her surgery. Have a word with your doctor if your niece is unable to get help for you. Take care xx

Hello Michael.
It is good that your wife is being kept at the top of the list when she decides to have her surgery, that is very considerate of her consultant. I hope you all enjoy your family meal tomorrow, have a good weekend.xx

Hi Michael, you are having everything slung at you right now, aren't you? Glad you can get on with the chemo and take it at home, and hope it will be relatively easy for you to deal with.

Sad that your poor wife has more to worry about but a pity she won't get the op over with, while you are still ok to cope with the help of friends and family. Surely sooner done and she can get well again so when the days are brighter and longer you can hopefully spend time together without her op hanging over you.

Take care and hope you can have as good a weekend as possible.

Hello Michael,

Sorry to hear your wife is in need of surgery. I can understand your wanting her to take care of herself. I am afraid you are between a rock and a hard place at the moment. Hopefully your wife will reconsider her decision and you can relax a bit with less worry for her,

I hope the Chemo doesn't knock you around too much. My Dad had liquid Morphine along with other meds. Hopefully your new levels will keep any pain at bay.

You are in my thoughts, '

Susan

PS: a trick my Dad learnt when he was taking his cocktail of pills, they slid down a lot easier with a big spoonful of yoghurt. ;-)

hi I have had 3 people try and talk her in to having it done but she is very stubbon when she makes up her mind theres no changing it the consultant said the if she don't have it done .she will still be at the top of her list so when shes ready to phone they will do it quickly. in one respect I do under stand her reasoning but would still want her to get it done now. I am hoping that this is the end of the bad news for this year now we are looking forward to the family meal on sunday. they also upped pain relief stronger tablets also liquid morhpine if andwhen required. also gave me a 24 hr phone number if I need to contact them. :-) :-) :-)

Pleased all ok for you to start your chemo today Michael. I can understand how your wife feels bless her, but how long will she have to wait if she puts it off. I do hope she gets it over with very soon. Good luck with managing the medication at home. xx

Oh dear, it never rains but it pours!! I can understand you wife not wanting to leave you and also your frustration with her decision Michael. Maybe some other family member could persuade your wife to change her mind and go in for the op on 4th Feb. Ultimately, she will need to be as well as she can be long term to take care of you. Just one thing after another and a really challenging time ahead for you both.
Big hugs to you both right now. xx

well every thing turned out ok bloods ok started chemo today I can take meds at home instead of going to hospital every time. just got to see if I can handle it ok, as for the other thing some of you may remember that my wife needsto have part of her bowel removed on wed she went to see the consultant who said she could have the op booked it for 4 feb yesterday she has informed my she is going to put a hold on it. I am not amused I cannot make her understand that although she will be in hospital for about 5-8 days I will be ok as we have plenty of back up so I wont be on my own but no she don't wont to leave me. I surpose I will have to respect her wishes .

Best of luck today Michael and hope things go well for you. I would mention at the hospital that MacMillan people haven't been in touch, they may be able to jog them along, it's not good enough that they keep forgetting about you.

Take care and hope whatever else is going on will sort itself out.

Will be thinking about you.

Pleased the stockings are helping you legs Michael. Good luck for tomorrow and definitely give those treatments a go in March. I had some when I was ill and found the relaxing. I think the MacMillan nurses should have been in touch though, why not give them a ring. I do hope your wife is ok. Take care both of you. xx
