OneFootInTheGrave Report 20 Dec 2013 13:59

Two people, including a 19-year-old girl, were critically injured today and 30 others hurt when a double decker bus crashed into a tree in south London.

Fire crews battled for over an hour to free two passengers who were trapped in wreckage on the top deck of the bus following the accident in Kennington Road.

It is believed the bus swerved violently to avoid another vehicle.

A total of 32 people were treated for injuries sustained on the number 59 bus, the London Ambulance Service said.

Of those, a man and a woman suffered critical leg injuries after being trapped on board the bus for around two hours.

Strange, you always feel safe on a bus because it is so big! I have to admit I steer clear of the front upstairs seats ever since one went into a branch of an overhanging tree in the Bristol area.

Poor people just before ?Christmas too.
