ive just subscribed to the durham family history society£15 money well spent if i find out more.
will look at that book on amazon now.x

oh did i mention i have josephs fathers will?(william noble my g g grandfather)

interesting that most accounts say that he was convicted on circumstantial evidence and that he professed his innocence til the end.

Here is a book on amazon.UK about the village....seems the co-op was central to it.

i have read both your links susan and thank you for taking the time to look for them.

i have also read a book that mentions the hanging of Joseph in durham jail

joseph was hung on the 24th march, my eldest daughters birthday.
she was born 73yrs after he was hung :-(
