First of all I want to wish you all a very Happy, paceful, healthy New Year.

Now, snatches of a song, I think it could be a Christmas carol, has been going round & round in my brain...can't remember title or most words, the few I do recall sound so demanding and rude.lol " we all want some piggy pudding..etc. so bring some out here"...what IS piggy pudding, can anyone enlighten me please.

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. :-D

Figgy pudd'n.

The original Christmas pudding.

One of my neighbours made some a few years ago and it was delicious.

She gave me the recipe and I am full of good intentions with regard to it!

Thank you Wend...am pleased to know it isn't 'piggy pudding'....it sounded so greedy.Lol
Haven't sung English Christmas carols since coming over here in '62 English carols, didn't know this one.
Btw, what is figgy pudding?

I will have a look later.

I know dried figs are involved, and some other things!

It is basically the origins of our Christmas Pudding, when it was probably a far lighter colour and less rich.
