I just knew somebody would come up with that one!

It's a thought though. You can't drive a diesel through floods above the air inlet but a battery powered vehicle might well be able to get through them.

But when do you drive your car submerged? I know you've had floods over there but this is going to extremes ;-)

I may be wrong in that I understand that submarines ran on diesel when they were on the surface and that this would charge a bank of batteries. These would power the vessel when it was submerged.

Couldn't cars be powered like this?

Maybe they are and I haven't grasped it.
