As I said it may be worth sending a message to the person who has Maria Nordstrom in her tree, you may be lucky and she still may have the same email address

Thanks Jax, I think she got this info from a document her adoptive parents showed her or gave her. She has a different surname now, her adoptive parents name. She didn't marry and is now here in Australia. So no one would ever know how to find her as her birth name.

Thanks Sylvia I understand what you say and didn't actually mean to post something that is unsuitable. Just trying to give best information to receive an answer. Will be more careful :)

The person who has her in her tree looks to be a granddaughter of a Christina M Nordstrom who was born in 1911 Liverpool...who was maybe Marie/Therese's sister?? although not seeing a birth for Marie/Therese at all but she must have got it from somewhere

First .............. finding information for people who might still be living, means not posting their full names on the open thread, nor too much information that would identify them

You should give the minimum amount of information, and then say you will pm anyone who says they might be able to help.

Secondly ....................... if Therese was still unmarried, OR married but her husband was not the father of the baby, then she would give up the baby for adoption.

It was still very much a stigma to have an illegitimate baby in the 1940s and 1950s, and even into the early 1960s, no matter how old the woman was.

Many such women would move to another part of the country to have the baby so no-one would know ........ or would leave Ireland and move to Liverpool herself, no need to be "sent".

Thanks Jax, I did find that one a few weeks ago to and wondered but if Madelaine was born in 1949 that would mean Therese (Marie) was 33 so why would she give the baby up for adoption. I was thinking she might have been under 18 when she fell pregnant in Ireland and was sent to Liverpool to the nuns to have the baby.

She was on the electoral roll up until 2005 in Muswell Hill with her husband who only seems to be listed until 2007 so maybe he has since died

There is someone (although very old membership number) who has Maria Theresa Nordstrom born 1916 Liverpool in her tree...it maybe worth contacting her

Sylvia how can you find someone without posting this info in a question?

Lori

you are still providing too much information for living people on a site that is completely open to viewing by anyone

Plus the fact that almost all information posted on here will appear on Google searches within a very short time

Thanks Penny, I do have Madelaine's birth registration notice . She was adopted a couple of years later and lived in an orphanage up until then. She has seen her mother as Marie Therese Nordstrom in some document but can't remember what it was. I found a Nordstrom D'Andrea marriage .. is that the one you refer to.

Please be aware that these pages are viewable to every monkey and his uncle.
With such a distinctive surname, anyone that googles the name would pretty soon happen across this request.

Marie might well not want her laundry hung out in public.

Please use tact and discression in your search

Without her file, and without her birth cert- how does she know her middle name - its just registered as W?

The lady in question appears ( as is not unusual) to have married some years later in the same local as M was born., although her middle name does not start with T its a fair guess ( and that's all it is really) that its the same lady born herself in the area.

You really do need a firm start point with this

Madelaine should apply for her adoption papers . She is entitled to have them but she is the only one who can apply for them.

It may or may not be significant having one Christian name of Woodward .

If she hasn't got her original birth cert then would recommend getting that too

Hi not sure how this works yet but am looking to find info on Marie Therese Nordstrom, who is most like born in Ireland, but gave birth to a daughter in Liverpool 1949 and gave her up for adoption. Named her daughter Madelaine Woodward Nordstrom and mother's name Nordstrom on birth registration that I have found. Can anyone help with info on this person. I cannot find her in any family trees. Madelaine is currently living in Australia and would love to know about her family. I am a keen researcher and want to help her find some sort of info on her roots. cheers Lori
