I have to confess that I bought all my Xmas presents through Amazon. The service was brilliant, I did have an issue over postage with one purchase, but it was so easily and satisfactorily resolved that I had no cause at all for complaint, in fact quite the opposite. I to upload books regularly onto my Kindle. Fantastic service, buying, borrowing and freebies all easily available.. Being a bit housebound it's a wonderful service for me and I'm sure many others.

Det I have read that and the reports did put me off Amazon but they are here to stay. I think there work policy sucks but they employ a lot of people who take the jobs, and there fore keep them off the dole ???? It´s the devil and the deep blue.

Back to Kindles I have bought OH a Kindle Paper white as he only uses it to read (having a notebook ) and it has a better screen for reading than a fire.

Not a free Kindle Fire? Shucks :-(

Although I've looked at them from a personal point of view I only used my basic version to read books. May be when it falls apart??

Uzzi - Amazon does have a good delivery service, but at what price to the workers? AND they've managed to use a legal loophole to avoid UK corporation tax. That subject was done to death at the end of last year. :-)

I have to say I also am becoming an Amazon fan. I ordered a new kindle for OH for his birthday to be sent to his sis´s address ..the next day I informed her it was arriving 2 hrs later she told me it was there !!

my Kindle came from Curry's - took it on holiday and it went wrong - went back to Curry's when I got home and they gave me a new one and transferred the contents to the new one I also find Curry's excellent to deal with

They informed me that they would always replace it whatever happened to it, only if it was lost they wouldn't replace it

Sorry Det ....I didn't put the right, the older model i did get a freebie swap, but now I have upgraded to Kindle Fire but I had to pay for that one LOL :-D <3

That's good to know Ann - over the Christmas period some of the notification emails were a couple of days late. Mind you, as I only actually switch on the wifi once its fully charged, it didn't matter.

Sounds a good deal Mersey, getting an upgraded model for free :-D

Ann they are one of the best!! I had a kindle and had had it for 10 months for some reason it stopped working, I contacted them asking if I could get it fixed, they asked me would I like a new one, I was thrilled. I got the new one before I had sent the other one back!! They were so helpful!!

I now have a Kindle Fire HD and I loves it!!! I admit I am an Amazon addict LOL

I ordered a book from Amazon for my Kindle, something I have done many times but on this occasion the book never came through - just contacted them by email - amazing - it asked for my phone number and did I want them to ring me immediately - I said yes, and the phone rang instantly!! Very nice lady gave me some instructons to follow and within five minutes I had my book - brilliant service!!!
