O.h. promised me an ipad or similar for Christmas and yesterday saw his sister's Hudl, which she got from Tesco, where she works. She could get me one with her discount off but I am not sure it will be best for me, I really just want to be able to take something with me to use when away and to use in the lounge so I don't have to sit at this main computer all the time. Not so much bothered about reading books on it, altho I might get used to it and all the extra things it does. |

I am told by my teckie son they are very good value and easy to use. He also works for Tesco so I was looking forward to getting one with his discount. |

Liz, my Granddaughter asks for a hudl, to us it is a cross between a hug and a cuddle and absolutely nothing to do with IT equipment but I know which I prefer. lol. xx |

DazedC I have an Ipad and if I want to keep something I email it to myself, this puts it onto my main computer. another way is to get dropbox onto both tablet and computer. Not sure if there is a cost involved for that. I downloaded 'pages' to my IPad, for word processing that cost me about £6.50 for the app for that, so I can write things up then e mail them to myself. |

I also love my iPad and downloaded a free wordprocessing app called NewPad and i paste and copy stuff i want to keep to NewPad. Like AnnG i also email thing to myself to print off from my PC. There is an app for just about everything and ive still got loads to learn. |

Thanks all, will show this to o.h. later as he is better at this than me. He now has an ipad for work but does bring it home and uses it here, also uses it for skype to talk with his son in America and the one who has just moved, means we can see the grandkids and will be able to see the new baby when it arrives in NY |

Liz,mine is an iPad 2 and think they are just as good as the later ones and a lot cheAper than they were.My g grandchildren even have them and think their mum got them on Ebay .she certainly wouldn't pay what I did I 2011 ...think it was £479 then, but shop around.Dont understand about a BT card.you either have wifi or you don't .Most people would want a connection ...not as if you're using their phone! |

I expect there is an "Ipad for Dummies" - used to be very reasonable series and helpful (though when I searched for "Open Office for Dummies Amazon quoted £75,didn't need it that much) |

Kanji, in our family, a cross between a hug and a cuddle is a 'huggle'. |

I have phoned in for a Which guide to tablets which is free (0800 223 0202) and paid £1 to get a guide to computing sent as well as access to a helpline which I can use straightaway. It I don't cancel my details with them by the end of February I will have to start paying nearly £10 a month to access other Which stuff so will have to remember to do that, in fact I can do it as soon as the guide arrives if I want. |
