Oh I loved Karl Denver, and I had pics of Guy Mitchell on my bedroom wall when I was young, and Tab Hunter and others of that era! (THat wasn't why I chose the name for my son lol)

I can remember She wore Red Feathers, I think we had the music to it in the piano stool that went with the family piano that was passed on from my aunt's, previously from my Grandma's (who I never met). It still had parrot seed in the back Mum said from Grandma's house.

I must look out for the record, it will bring back some memories, my Mum had the radio on all the time when I was young.

I once bought a Karl Denver CD at The Range.

It was brilliant.

Love some of those old songs Ann...takes ya back? :-D

[Sound of knocking on door]

[Spoken:]
Come in
Well, well, well, look who's here
I haven't seen you in many a year

If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
baked a cake, baked a cake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
Grandest band in the land
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
And spread the welcome mat for you

Oh, I don't know where you came from
'cause I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in

Cos If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Hired a band, goodness sake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

and loved .........

"Walking my baby back home"
& "See the Pyramids along the Nile"
....................now who didn't know all the words?

Mario Lanza, Frankie Lane, Al Martino, Jo Stafford, Doris Day, Nat King Cole,
Dean Martin, Danny Kaye, Eddie Fisher....... they certainly don't make them like they used to. Happy days, lovely special memories too.

Me got to go pole a pierrot down the bayou,
Play guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay o,
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou.

Nope I've never heard of them either.

BC I thought it was Bo Bo as well!

Others on there are(to name a few).

Because you're mine
High Noon (do not forsake me)
Here in my heart
Wheel of fortune
Around the corner(beneath the berry tree)
Walkin my baby back home
Kiss of Fire
Tell me why
Blue Tango (Leroy Anderson)
Wonderful Copenhagen
Jambalaya on the Bayou.

There are more, some I don't recognise but I was only 11/12 that year. Hoever Kay Starr and the Wheel of Fortune was one of the records I used to play with my OH when I was 16/17 on his old record player.

While out today at a garden centre I picked up a CD 'The hits that reigned in 1952'! with such wonderful!!! songs as Feet up pat him on the Po Po, sugarbush and There's a pawn shop on the corner in Pittsburgh Pennsyvania.

Quite entertaining listening to it, well worth £1.
