When looking at census records on Find my Past I have a white band blocking out
half of the record does anyone know how to get rid of this so that I can read the complete record.

I suddenly had this a couple of weeks ago possibly after an IE update. I added Find My Past to 'compatability view' and it did the trick.

Open Find My Past.
Go to 'tools', select 'compatability view settings' and you will be given the option to add FMP to the list.
I hope this sorts it for you. :-)
