Kitty and Sharron,my Mum died last year,in September. She had been going steadily downhill for about 12 months. On my last visit to her,the week before she died, she said that she had heard Dad's voice on the radio, about 3 or 4 times, and she asked me if I had heard it.I said no.
I think that she knew that she wasn't long for this world then.

Shane/Budgie,of course you believe what you see,in everyday life.If you see your dog, your cat,or your wife, you don't question it,and why should you? They are not optical illusions, like your clever examples!!

On second thoughts, taking your comments in the context in which they were made,I agree with you. That's a very grey area. Please disregard the above paragraph!

I think that's what really matters Kitty, if it makes you happy. It cant be bad or wrong and why should it. If you believe what you see then its real for you. :-D

Sharon, my Mum used to talk to Dad too, in her room at bedtime, she was heard talking to him long after he had died, but maybe it was the Alzheimers.

We will never know, but she sounded happy enough

My great aunt Carrie was the most down to earth person I have ever met. She had had her problems, including an alcoholic father who died when she was young which left the family in extreme poverty and two brothers died young. One died in the Great War and the other fell overboard from a naval ship and was eaten by sharks. These she took in her stride.

Her marriage to Charlie was long and exceptionally good. They were deeply besotted to the end.

A few months after Charlie died, Carrie moved to the bungalow next to her son and she told me in a quite matter of fact manner that Charlie did not go with her. I said that it would not have been possible as he had died at the last place.

Evidently he had been with her at the first bungalow where he had come back to help her but could not talk to her very well even though he tried.

A far as I am concerned, If Carrie saw Charlie, then Charlie would have been there.

Despite Mum telling me years ago

"The dead can't hurt you it's the living you need to watch out for"

The thought of seeing any of my loved ones who has passed on scares the pants off me, in a dream is fine, but not actually in front of me! :-0

Sorry,Porkie Pie,I forgot to say that I agree with you ,too.But...I do believe that being open to the idea of life after death has had no bearing on my experiences, they have just happened.People are free to believe what they want. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Cynthia...love it,you gave me a great giggle,thank you!! :-D :-D :-D :-

Shane/Budgie :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Kitty..I agree with you. I've always been open to the idea of ghosts, life after death, etc, and none of my experiences have caused me to change that.

Maggie...that's very interesting,and quite unexplainable!!

My granddad died 6 weeks before I was born (6 weeks prematurely). Just after he died, mum was in the bath, and he 'appeared' - Mum told him to go away as he was embarrassing her. And he did.
I would put that down to a high emotive state.
However, my brother in law went into work one day, to be told by his secretary that an English gentleman (this was in South Africa) wanted to see him, he was in the adjoining office (had to pass through the secretary's office to get out of the building). Brother in law went to see the man - he wasn't there! He hadn't passed the secretary - just disappeared.
Brother in law asked the secretary to describe him - she did. The description sounded familiar, so he then showed her a picture of his dad without saying who he was. 'Yes, that was him'.

Except he'd died 3 years previously.......

My daughters, along with their stepbrothers have, apparently seen a ghost or two - when they lived in Stinsford - the village Thomas Hardy lived in. They regularly saw people in old-fashioned garb, especially by the church - and there wasn't a Hardy re-enactment going on.

Mind you, both my daughters, before staying in Stinsford (unbeknownst to each other) had invisible friends - and they were both called Patrick - AND they could both give me details of their 'friends' 'previous' lives - both were different - so not so much invisible friends - more ghost friends.

Me? Not seen a dicky bird of a 'ghost' - so they didn't 'get' anything from me :-D
