Me too Maggie - made me chuckle, even if it is ancient. I can't remember hearing it when I was 14 :-D :-D :-D

What's GenesRU, by the way? Is it Genes Reunited United? :-S :-S :-S

I don't really see why people think that it is a great idea to post ancient un original jokes demonstrating that their sense of humour has not got past 14 years of age. Na na ne na na etc.

Neither do I understand why people feel the need to censor anything that they find distasteful. Freedom of speech must include the freedom to be objectionable and to show the world you are a right p-k or it is nothing at all.

If GenesRU cannot make their refer scheme work then they should knock it on the head. IMHO it is a robot as the rr behaviour is typical of what a not very well written script robot would do. All GenesRU are trying to do is to avoid getting sued their miniscule budget is not up for it.

Then there was another 80-odd year old stopped by a traffic cop, apparently driving rather slowly and bit erratically,

G'day Ma'm he says I noticed you seem a bit unsure of of your driving and where you are going..........

probably Officer, its these newfangled glasses I haven't got used to them yet...

how long have you had THEM he says, Oh,several years now, I'm finding it hard to adjust to them.........
the cop says a couple of years to get used to driving glasses? thats a bit odd!!

Oh no she says these are reading glasses and I need to see the names of the streets.............where are your driving glasses he says?? and your driving licence?

Ok I don't have a driving licence, or driving glasses, the last time I saw my optician he told me that my eyes were not so good and he asked for my licence, he cut it up and said, You wont need that any more, and cut it up and threw it into the bin....and you wont need driving glasses either!!

Let us see how long it lasts this time.

Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car.
She writes:

Dear Grand-daughter,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a
'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ....
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.
So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.
Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.
I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed.
It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed.
I found that lots of people love Jesus!
While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!'
'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'
What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!
Everyone started honking!
I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people.
I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach.
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air.
I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.
He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.
Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back.
My grandson burst out laughing.
Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!
A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.
I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.
So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection.
I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared.
So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!!
Will write again soon,

Love, Grandma

For the record this joke letter was found on the website www.poeticexpressions.co.uk who are supporters of the Marie Curie Nurses organisation who provide free nursing care for the terminal ill. They, unlike the person who RR'd the OP, do not see harm in its humour.

"Poetic Expressions is a proud supporter of Marie Curie whose Nurses provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes"
"Please take time to Donate to Marie Curie Cancer Care and donate what you can"
Thank you
