The Big Burns Supper festival is hoping to see 5,000 people tuck into a haggis meal over its three days in Dumfries.

The event runs from Friday to Sunday with a wide range of concerts, comedy and community activities planned.

As part of a drive to get more people enjoying Burns Suppers, a special mascot - Hamish the Haggis - has been touring schools.

During the festival, Hamish the Haggis will host an "interactive family show" including a children's Burns Supper.

This year Burns Night is on Saturday the 25th January 2014 ;-)

We are having a Burns Night supper in the village this year.

It is some kind of fund raising event for the church I think and the tickets are a tenner each.

Fred will not be going although I could have arranged it had he chosen to.

I don't like veggie haggis much but will go for the company and the social scene and I will be one of the youngest there which is always quite pleasing!

I have already bought a haggis, and will gladly demolish it all by myself, though it may take 3 days :-(

Well, they celebrate it all over Australia. And quite rightly so in my opinion.

My genes are 95% Scottish, but I didn't get a haggis gene, I hate the stuff!

My brothers love it. If they have or are invited to a bbq they get a haggis from the Scottish butcher and torment people with it.

:-D

The day we stole yet another country from the black man!

If there were not such aberrations we vegetarians would never get out.

Not such a bad thing you might think.
