Same guy came twice in last fortnight. :-|

We have chatted very amicably for several minutes both times. He has given me pamphlets on each occasion. Some very interesting facts in them too, which they claim as the work of God...Rubbish! all these facts are natures own work and nothing to do with any gods.
Which part of , "I don't believe in Salvation, Resurrection, or any God", does he not understand? Such bigotry on their part I think.
What is their specific aim, world domination?
What is to them what I believe in anyway?...are they trying to justify their own brainwashed beliefs.

Btw... He is coming back again to drop me off another booklet he said that could interest me.
I might help convert him to "Naturalistic Pantheism" yet... If he`s not careful. he,he.

I am having a good old giggle here picturing Mrs Brown having a conversation with a a couple of JW's, it goes something like this - ooops cannot type that here :-D :-D :-D

They can be persistent / I always say Thank You but this is a practicing Catholic household but they still try to engage you in chat . I close the door I,m afraid

Same with the Mormons who occasionally turn up .

I am not rude to any of then .I have my standard reply and often add but thank you for calling . They dont cross you off their list though,maybe they think if they try and try again you may succumb!! :-(

One of my friends is a JW and when we meet for coffee or lunch in town she puts it in her diary as having visited my home, glad to say she doesn't push it onto me.

There does seem to be a Biblical reason for what they do. Jesus sent out his 120 followers in pairs to build up the early church in about 30 AD (or CE).

In the days when I was a non-believer (in my late 20's and 30's), I always wanted Christians to knock on my door and invite me to church. But it never happened. Only the JWs and the Mormons came. They do seem to target particular houses and need to prove that they have taken their particular form of "the word" to so many non-JW's or non-LDS. Always very smart and particularly well-organised, and nice people that you don't want to upset.

I just tell them that Jesus is one personality of the Jehovah they witness to. That seems to get them angry or upset and I get very few knocks now. My conscience is clear - not me who has made them upset/angry, it is the words of Jesus. ;-)

We had two JWs last week.

I answered the door, saw the WT pamphlet, and said I wasn't interested. As I was closing the door, one of them said "how rude".

Who was invading someone's privacy? How rude!

They don't go next door any more.......... neighbour gave them a HUGE serve once (it was wonderful to listen to :-D ).

Next time the mormons knock on my door..... I'll ask for help using familysearch...... hopefully the doorknockers won't be my distant cousins. ;-)

after two JWs were quite patronising to me I edited the notice I have stuck to me front door - a notice which tells people I do not buy at the door and I do not wish to have a new drive, trees lopped, new windows, new fascias, do not wish to change utility providers, no charity envelopes AND NO RELIGIOUS GROUPS!!!! Seems to work for the religious groups but still get bothered by the double glazing crew

My lovely Dad, a lifelong atheist, loved them calling - he used to ask them in, any religious group, and then argue vociferously with them until they left - they never came back!!!!

They have never been able to explain to me what their stand is on trans-substantiation.

Simple enough question you would think!

When he sees them walking down the drive, my brother gets himself ready, then answers the door in the nude!

Then he invites them in.......... they usually decline.

Ann you have reminded me of the time 2 JWs came to my grandmother's front door. She explained that she was very busy but if they would come back at 6pm, my grandfather would be delighted to chat with them. They beamed a huge smile and must have thought they had hit the jackpot.,little did they know he was a baptist minister!

At 6pm they rang the bell and grandma invited them in. Grandad duly told them to sit down and talk to him, which they did. After an hour they stood up and said they had better be going. "not until you have listened to me," he said so you can sit back down.

Grandad kept talking until they were almost begging to leave. He said as they were going out the door"feel free to call back anytime."

They never came back in all the 40 years they lived there. Strange that lol

Many years ago, a friend of my dad's was helping him fix something on the car.

Dad had gone in to the house for something, his friend was in the garage. JWs arrived, and went to the garage.

They said "we'd like to talk to you about the state of the world"

Dad's friend said "don't ask me, I don't live here"

Doing good is religion’s best recruiting tool. Hellfire ranting doesn’t work.

I tell them to get a bloody life.

I have a great life and It doesn't involve religion.

Well my JW (Case worker) came back for a third time to "show me the light".
He wont be coming back again.
Is this man for real... He told me that Global Warming and all the natural disasters that goes with it, Tsunami`s, Disease and Starvation and all Wars (nation against nation)etc ,etc, are all actually the work of "GOD".
He says " God`s is destroying mankind thus, as he is going to cleanse the world of all evil caused by them".
He goes on to say when this is finally done and all life is finally extinct, We will ALL be ressurrrected and go about our earthly ways happy and content in an everlasting eternal life as He, his God, meant us do.
If this being so... WHY didn`t This almighty, all knowing, all seeing powerful GOD. get it right the first time?

So these JW`s see no wrong in children and adults dying from disease and malnutrician, as its all for the greater good is it ?.. I Dont think so!

btw ... We yet again parted company on good terms with smiles and the shaking of hands.
