You are probably right Annx,
My daughter was anorexic and excercise was the "behaviour" that she used to control her weight

She was overweight when she first took up excercise, but lost half her body weight in less than a year.
Although we talked to her about our concerns for her health,, the turning point came when one of the gym instructors told her that he was worried about her

Hopefully, the girl who came to your gym, had the same advice from her instructors , and I would like to think that she acted on it.... my daughter did.

She came home that night, asked for help and has never looked back.
She transferred all that determination from diet and excercise into... recovery.

Such a sad situation and an illness that is so hard to overcome. A young, bright woman with her life before her all ended so sadly.

Years ago when I went to the local gym for a while there was a young girl that was so thin I suspected she suffered from the same illness. The intensity, determination and focus with which she hit those machines had to be seen to be believed. It was like a compulsion she had little control over. Your news has made me wonder what happened to her too.

How sad that this girl with so much to live for, has not had the chance to do that. My sympathy to you and to all her family and friends.

I can understand how these illnesses take hold of people, it's like folk telling me to get rid of my stuff I hoard, well logically I know I should but part of my brain is telling me otherwise.

Let's hope this dear girl is with all those gone before, on that lovely beach you visited Rollo, and her loved ones there are holding her tight.

Very sorry to hear that Rollo. And don't you ever go back to the beach. Sure there are many people who enjoy your company and views. I do - even though we tend to tease each other now and again.

Rollo

Love,
Love changes everything:
Hands and faces,
Earth and sky,
Love,
Love changes everything:
How you live and
How you die

This song brings back bitter sweet memories and always manages to make me cry. I truly feel for you.

Pain the price to be paid for love.

Thank you every one I am really beat up.

Around ten years ago I had a really bad fall. Instead of coming round to crushing pain I awoke to a warm summer's day on a beach. Just across on the other side were all the people I had lost over the years and missed so bad. Then a far away voice said not the time you cannot stay. So I awoke to the blues and twos. Sometimes I just want to go back to that beach but I guess we must all carry on somehow.

(Webber)

"When I go up through the mowing field,
The headless aftermath,
Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,
Half closes the garden path.

And when I come to the garden ground,
The whir of sober birds
Up from the tangle of withered weeds
Is sadder than any words

A tree beside the wall stands bare,
But a leaf that lingered brown,
Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,
Comes softly rattling down.

I end not far from my going forth
By picking the faded blue
Of the last remaining aster flower
To carry again to you. "

So sad Rollo.
My own daughter suffered from this same eating disorder .
We are so grateful that she accepted help and won the battle against anorexia but sadly for others, it is just too difficult.
My heart goes out to the family of this girl.

EDIT:
Lesson I learned about anorexia

It is not about the desire to lose weight. but the the fear of gaining it.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to your friends.
To lose a child is possibly the worst experience a parent can endure, to lose one in such tragic circumstances must be absolutely devastating. May she rest in peace.
