I am running with my daughters boyfriend so if he ever wants to marry her, he had better look after me. I do have a personal trainer and go to the gym 5 nights a week so I am pretty fit and game for a laugh.

Good luck in your run. You can always take up ironing at a later date.

The iron man runs are far tougher than the iron run but for me this is going to be pretty hard going. I only started to run last year and completed the Leicester half marathon. this year it will be the iron run . the water wipe out in Nottingham and a full marathon then hanging my shoes up as I am getting on a bit in years lol.

"What sort of clothing do I wear?

It’s up to you! You can wear full sports equipment or run in a mankini. However, we do recommend warm runners clothing and a good pair of off road running shoes."

In the Q&A it does say that you are offered the choice of routes at each obstacle and can avoid the swimming sections if you want.

Perhaps you could use the link on the site and ask to be put in touch with veterans?

the iron run I have entered is in kettering in northhamptonshire. it is in march so will be very cold. heavy clothing is not a option as there is a swim and a lot of obstacles over a 12k coarse .

has anyone ever ran the spring iron run. I have entered it for the first time but have no idea what sports wear is needed as it is a very wet, cold and muddy race
