I researched my daughter's fiancé's family - bought loads of certs, travelled the country taking photos of his ancestors' places of abode and work, sussed out CWGC info, etc. etc. I have buckets of stuff on them. |

Do the 'nice thing' and give it to his Dad - even if he isn't interested, a different member of his family might be. |

That's my preference DetEcTive, but the dad is not a nice fella any more (has taken his son's side in a big way), and for various reasons I wouldn't like to go into, doesn't speak to any of his family, including most of his 5 children. |

How about posting it to the ex? Just put a brief note in to say you came across the enclosed and thought he might like to have it. |

Did the family tend to live in one area? |

Nice thought Maggie. No, they ended up in Bristol, but came from all over the country. No significant place that might be interested. |

What is the furthest back you have gone with the male line. And when was he born and where did he live, Madmeg? Thta might give an idea of where to deposit research. Pity to skip it. |

Can you look on your records to see who is living, maybe not too connected or friendly with the immediate family and get in touch. |

Oh Brenda I know everyone who is living. There are two family history researchers in the family who have got it wrong, and won't be told, cos they haven't bought the certs that I have bought. They are determined that I am wrong about a particular piece of the history even with the certs. I don't feel inclined to help them any more. They are going off what "uncle James said" and uncle James ain't right. |

I have just done a google search for the £$%^%& family. There seems to be a one name group in County Clare. And believe it or not , a local museum is called the £$%^%& museum. |
