I emailed a church for baptism information ...l but they wanted a standard £20 fee to look ...l they did find it and hand wrote the detail and posted it to me

Nothing is free ...where genealogy is concerned ...

I know it isn't of help but I know of a lady born 1935 who was adopted at four years old and had never seen her baptism, she was illegitimate. She went to the church in town and saw ? priest who said he was unable to help. She came to the family history to see if we could help and then decided to go back to the church, a bit more determined and found a kinder man, presumably another priest who went to the records and gave her a copy. Not only did it have her mother but also the reputed father. The information is there and probably quite easy to find.
