A couple of years ago there was an article in the paper about a so-called sacred site locally.

Tents were set up etc etc........... until the local Aborigines went to the site and told the Queensland mob to go home. Locals said it wasn't a sacred site, and that the Qld mob were stirring up trouble, told them to mind their own backyard.

Lady Scozz.

It may be a purely West Oz Aboriginal Dreamtime Story. I suppose that to many people, Aborigines were one unified nation prior to the English settlement.

I think that prior to the settlement Australia could be compared to, say, Europe with separate 'countries, languages and traditions.

Certainly, in WA, the Wagyl is well known to both indigenous an non-indigenous people. It may also have helped my understanding as I worked closely with the Aborignes of the North Eastern Goldfields of WA when I first came out to Oz :-D

I mentioned this to a friend tonight, he's a NSW born aboriginal.

He's never heard of Wagyl

I said Wagyl has probably never heard of him either.

Oh well

I suppose that if the serpent was called a woggle, at least the Tasmanians would have a claim to fame! :-|

So much for the Dream Time!
