Well you can of course get an opinion on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Ben Hur" starring Charlton Heston
I actually saw this at the movies in a re-run about 1960. I thought it was brilliant. I have bought the 50th anniv blue ray ed. and it is worth every penny. Rev up yr chariot 10/10

Disney Studios animated "Sleeping Beauty".
I have tried to watch this, I really have, since being young but always fall asleep. Boring 1/10

"North by Northwest" with Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason. Cary Grant and Hitchcock ... who could wish for more? I saw it at the movies the first time around and fell in love with Eva Mary Saint. She also starred with Brando in "The Waterfront" a movie which must be on anybody's list. Get the director's cut of NbyNW on blu ray. 10/10

"Some Like It Hot" with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon. Riveting, funny. 9/10 but 10/10 if you are a Lemmon/Curtis fan like me :-)

"Pillow Talk", Doris Day and Rock Hudson.
Not a fan of either, sorry.

"Suddenly, Last Summer", Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, Katharine Hepburn. This is one of a group together with "Butterfield 8", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "The Sandpiper". I have seen them all on the wide screen but only the Sandpiper 1st run. 9/10 except for "Butterfield 8" 10/10

"Anatomy of a Murder", James Stewart and Lee Remick.
Lee Remick should have got an Oscar for this. Saw it for the first time in an art cinema in Paris. The plot has been stolen again and again and again, sometimes for real. 9/10

"On the Beach", Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner.
Dystopian post nuclear war movie based on Nevil Shute's novel. Back to the tool room, over rated. 6/10

The cinema even more than jazz and blues/rock music was the defining art form of the C20. Many of the movies will probably still be popular hundreds of years from now the same way as Shakespeare, Beethoven and Tolstoy remain popular.

I've seen all those films Elizabeth, starring most of my favourite actors.

It's good to be able to see films at home but I do miss going to the flicks. Me and OH intend to start going again there is a new cinema in our town 'The Jam Jar' so must support it.....

Looking forward to the Baftas :-D
