What does it take to be stabbed to death in Gloucester nowadays?

There is another thread under the heading - ‘Are you happy the way Britain is now... ?’ & most contributors seem to agree that the quality of life generally is much better now than it was not that many years ago.

But cruel incidents like this death makes one wonder.

Not just Gloucester is it Dermot? actually Gloucester is not too bad, this is not the first murder here in the past couple of years admittedly but mostly the perpetrator is known to the victim (not that that is excusable). On the whole the quality of life is not bad at all here, the usual yobs who think it fair to relieve people of their hard earned possessions. the usual youngsters who have too much to drink in the clubs. But, considering we are very much a multi cultural town there is not much unrest between ethnic groups etc.

Dermot,

There is no place on earth where this tragic event could have been prevented.

Statistics show that the majority of killings are carried out by partners, family members, friends or acquaintances. The highest percentage is men against women.

Ann it's a tragedy that will stay with the girls parents for the rest of their days. Also my thoughts go out to the parents of the young man responsible for the girls death. What a dreadful burden they will have to carry.

Shocking news Ann and tragic for the family,my heart goes out to them.

Last September there was a murder in nearest town to us and by coincidence also a hairdresser, who was knifed to death by a former boyfriend who wouldn't accept their break up. He is now serving a prison sentence.

regarding hanging - I too always think of Timothy Evans in the Christie case - that is why, even with DNA, w can't justify hanging - one mistake is one too many

Anyway, I think a life locked away until death is better than hanging, as long as life means just that - life!!!

I also think people should be prosecuted for taking photographs of crime scenes whilst the crime is still being investigated - ghoulish in the extreme
