Prices seem to have settled at around £30-£40 although some with bids originally placed a few days back are going for more.

Still a lot of money for 50p coin.....!

i usually only collect pre-decimal coins , but the exception is that i have also collected many 50p over the last few years so today i tipped them all out and i have lots of wonderful designs but alas none of Kew gardens.. :-( :-(

That's not your fifty pence piece on ebay is it Ann? :-)

Someone I know has a Kew Gardens 50p amongst their collection of special issues. They will be keeping it, although they didn't realise that it was commanding such a price. It was just one from pocket change and put by some time ago as 'different.'
There are quite a few special releases on certain coins.
This person collects £2 and 50p ones.

Wow! that's great Mr Graham sir .. just goes to show how nation wide advertising via the media reaps dividends.

Graham Report 21 Feb 2014 12:32

I wish I had got one about 5 years ago for fifty pence

The really high prices are for uncirculated versions in mint condition. Circulated ones seem to be bidding around £70, but still a few hours left on those I just looked at so could easily top the ton.

Sorry I didn't buy one last week when they could be had for under a tenner.

Graham

Graham Report 21 Feb 2014 11:59

It says there are 49 bids ;-)

Budgie Rustler Report 21 Feb 2014 11:24

Mr Graham sir,
I think that may be the asking price that the seller wants and not a bid price.

Graham

Graham Report 21 Feb 2014 11:13

There's one on there now for over £300 with about 3 hours left to bid. People must be kewing around the block for it ;-)

Had quite a few 50p's last week, now spent them, think that was one of them, remember thinking it was different. Wasn't meant to be mine :-(

There are over 30 on ebay at the moment. Last week you could have got one for £15 outright but word seems to have got around that they are in demand and this has pushed the price right up.

PS I have just seen that someone previously offering it for £15 outright has now increased the price to £100.....!
