Yep I know what you mean.

Ditto wot Wisechild, Graham and DazedConfused have written, every last word, it's my situation exactly :-)
and STILL I sit at a desk piled high with 'stuff' = paper , notes, photos, print-outs, scraps of notes and goodness knows wot, just longing to be filed. Filed?
Yes, but where?

Karen - needing 3 more filing cabinets, 1 more bookcase and a large extension to the house!

I look at papers that need filing and think ?????????????? who are they and why did i print em .

Do get myself in a twist too on which family some documents go where because of the family marriage cross over.

Have wasted money too buying the same cert cos one file for the family doesnt have THAT cert only to find I have bought it and put it in another box . B annoying

I try to keep each side as a separate family but then the intermarriage messes that up especially when more them one of them marries into the same family

Wish they would stick to the rules !!!! I could box their ears for messing things up lol

Dizzi...

Cut it all into squares, thread some string through it and hang it in the loo.

Waste not want not!

Did just that about 18 months ago.

Bits of paper with names on - who the hell were they
Bits of paper with dates on - yeah right!

I shredded loads (shredding go to rescue centre for litter trays etc) after using both sides for printing of info. Or as scrap paper.

Still own loads of 'stuff' and have been promising myself that I will scan all the photos I have of my cousins grandparents and send him the originals. They are sitting here on my table and the chair on the side and on the sideboard!!! Have been for 2 years or more, really must gee myself up.....

We all do it. And I watch the 'hoarding' shows on telly and think 'that does not look too bad!!' :-D :-D

I've got so many print outs of census records that I find it easier to print out a new one than find the one I'm looking for. So the stack of paper keeps building up. :-)

Lol Dizzi, I did that a couple of weeks back also filled the recycle bin. Seems like when we started we felt the need to duplicate everything in case we lost the info. I have actually got rid of all the census print outs now as they are so readily available on line. the actual information is incorporated into the narratives on each person. I know my children won't want all that when I leave this earth so started clearing out a lot of unnecessary stuff.

No you´re not Dizzi.
Trust me, the number of notebooks & scrappy bits of paper that I have defies description & more than 50% has been duplicated & triplicated over a 20 year period.
At least 3 boxes full of it, not counting the A4 files for each family which are supposed to contain a hard copy of everything I have on the PC, but which in practise havent been updated for at least 5 years.
What a pity I never come across anything in that lot to break down any of my brick walls. :-| :-|

Did I really need 36 copies of Greatgrandads 1901 census,
YES I have finally started sorting all my rubbish out ,
One file box stuffed to the brim so much it couldn't be closed, left in box one folder
With a few pages in it of research for others I have done in the past,
ONE METAL FILING CABINET,two draws finally balanced weight so it stayed
Standing and not falling forward and draws opening all the time, sorted
Now down to about three files with mostly drawings in it,
ONE RECYCLE DUSTBIN now full to top so much it's to heavy to move,
But there's still a lot more places to clear out,

ACCORDING TO OH I AM ENTIRLY RESPONSABLE FOR ALL THE
TREES BEING CHOPPED DOWN IN THE RAIN FORREST,
