I can remember the announcement as I was up a ladder decorating the lounge at the time. I thought it was wonderful news but my daughters were not pleased and told me "Prince Charles is too old"........ they were right and I was wrong.

Hello Jax and Ann

Thank you for replying.

That is a bit spooky, Jax. :-)

Your son was a bit miffed then, Ann! :-)

Take gentle care, ladies

I remember it well - it was on the 29th July, my son's birthday, and he was not at all pleased that I spent most of the day in front of the TV

I remember it well, I took a driving test that day and failed :-( ok though I passed 6 weeks later :-)

Strange thing is.....today I was transferring my collection of British bank notes from an old photo album where the cellophane had given up and the money kept falling out....this photo album must have been bought around that time, as on the front was one of the famous photos of the couple...Di in her blue suit showing off her engagement ring looking very shy

Dear All

Hello

I remember this date like it was a short time ago.

33 years ago, after months of media speculation, Buckingham Palace
announced that Princes Charles was going to marry Lady Diana Spencer.

Lord Maclean, the Lord Chancellor made the following statement at an investiture at the Palace:

"It is with greatest pleasure that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh

announce the betrothal of their beloved son the Prince of Wales

to the Lady Diana Spencer, daughter of the Earl Spencer

and the Honourable Mrs Shand Kydd."

Lady Diana was 19 and worked as nursery school teacher.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth,
xx
