When I used to make cauliflower cheese (dribbles at the thought, but gut will no longer accept cauliflower), I used to use very old cheese (first cutting the mould off) - and added mustard powder. The older the cheese - the nicer the sauce :-D

Yes, Sharron, I put mustard powder in, too - it makes quite a difference :-) :-)

You can have my permission but you must provide your own green Oxos.

I do put some dry mustard in too. It enhances the cheese flavour.

I make cheese scones for our village hall pop-up cafes. Adding a green oxo sounds very interesting - might try that next time (with your permission, of course, Sharron! :-D ;-)

Took them to the coffee morning and was honest. They were well received.

Just about everything there was far too sweet for me to eat in the morning, Gingerbread, rock buns, iced coffee sponge, chocolate biscuits.

All very much sweeter than my own, home- made shortbread ever is!

Nah, nah, ne, nah, nah Wend!

Well you do have a memory for detail Wend!

Did I look like I was enjoying the shortbread though?

Sharron Report 25 Feb 2014 22:23

It's only bits of cheese. Alright, so some of those bits are rind, but they are all edible (ish) .

I recall that when you picked me up one morning from Chichester Station a while back Sharron, you were tucking well in to some home-made shortbread you'd brought with you.

Don't like sweet in the morning eh?

Maggie............

"Actually, they do sound rather nice."

Have you been on the sherry?

:-D :-D

maggiewinchester Report 25 Feb 2014 22:01

Actually, they do sound rather nice.
I'd take all the credit then, if I were you :-D

But rather than say you 'chucked in some ground up cheese rinds and bits out of the fridge and a green Oxo', I'd just say it's your own (secret) recipe
:-D :-D :-D

They are not awful. They are delicious.

You don't think we haven't dug in already do you?

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 25 Feb 2014 21:54

You could tell them it's your granny's recipe, recently found tucked away in an old cookery book.
Then, if they're awful - you can blame her! :-D

We are going to a coffee morning in the village tomorrow if all is well with Fred.He won't be going, it is Wednesday.

There is usually a selection of cakes and biscuits at these affairs and I really don't like sweet in the morning so we knocked up some scones to take

Now, do I let them think it is a very special recipe I gleaned from a cordon bleu course or do I tell them I chucked in some ground up cheese rinds and bits out of the fridge and a green Oxo?
