Oh Brenda I was about to say the same! how it was sad to have straight hair, perms were expensive and I couldn't manage home perms - remember "which twin has the Toni?"

I have naturally wavey which makes it easy to style, in the 70s it was ringlets which I didn't like, mum used to say stop complaining I have to pay for my hair to be curly haired, now in my 60s it is still wavey enough to hold a style. :-)

As far back as I can remember I've always been partial to a bit of curly. :-) ;-) :-) :-D

Isn't it strange that this day and age everyone wants straight hair?
When I was young, everyone said ...you are so lucky having naturally curly hair .
I never had mine cut from being 3-14 .

i sat at my mothers knee every day and she brushed and brushed it with a wire brush and then wound round her fingers to make ringlets like sausages.

my friend had straighter hair and hers was put in rags every night and looked more like corkscrews and she was blonde and I was dark .

When I became a teenager I got embarrassed and stuffed it down my coat as people would remark on my hair.

Went out with my young aunt and her friend and we went to a hairdressers and she chopped off my curls one by one.My hair stuck out cos she didn't thin it,but my aunt and her friend styled it,,but Boy....did we get into trouble from my mum and grandma.

They got over it ...and I sold it to a wig maker for 7/6d...that was in 1949.
Never ever had it straightened,or dyed, but as I got older it's more wavy than curly, and silver now.

I was smacked at Sunday School for saying that I had naturally curly hair. As I had plaits at the time the only bit that was very curly was the bottom of the plait, the rest of it appeared straight.

As a teenager in the 60's when straight hair was all the rage I once threw a hairbrush at the mirror because my hair was too curly. Needless to say I got a crack from my mum (who I must add rarely did the hitting) as the hair brush broke the mirror. I think that is the reason I had at least seven miserable years after that. My mother said I should be grateful for curly hair.

Time has straightened it a little bit and am I happy to have hair, let alone, a specific type of hair. Yup. Many people, both men and woman don't have the locks as they get older . Usually people with curly hair retain some life in their mop. Be grateful,I'm sure your hair is beautiful and don't let other's jealousy mask your good fortune.

I stopped fighting with my hair years ago. I realised I was spending far too much time trying to tame it.

If I wash my hair & just leave it, I look like a spaniel with an afro.

I tried a very short style a long time ago..... never again....... I looked like I'd been given a really bad perm.

I've found a few products that help with the halo look, but I don't worry any more about it.

I found an oil product, put some on when the hair is wet & if it's still frizzy after drying it, a little bit helps get rid of the halo. A little bit goes a long way.

OH is in bed, the hair stuff is in the bathroom, I don't want to wake him up, so I'll try to remember to post about it.

That woman's comment was uncalled for............. and nasty!

I can remember my mother saying 'WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR"......... nothing!

Oh Scozz how nasty.

People with nice straight hair that falls just how they want it to or will obediently go into any style it is put, just don't have a clue.

I can only wash mine once a week, otherwise it turns to hay, not even straw.

I have to leave it for half an hour with a towel on.

Then I tease it out with a de tangling comb, bit by bit.

Then leave it for another half hour with heavy duty serum on.

I can then dry it. Put more jollop on and straighten it with my GHDs

The slightest hint of damp, mist, rain, breeze and it's up and out again.

When I was a young teen, my Mum used to make me wear a head scarf, I looked such a fright.

You can guess what some of my " friends " , well and my Mum, used to call me.

Thank goodness for modern products and straighteners is all I can say.

M. :-) :-(

As we get older and wiser, we develop selective hearing. So I am also vibrant and look lovely and young for my age. :-D :-D

LadyScozz Report 28 Feb 2014 11:42

Mine is curly...... very!

We went out tonight & I was quite happy with the way my hair looked.

One lady said I looked "vibrant"........... a few of the men said I looked nice!

I was feeling good......... until one woman said "you look like you've been in a wind tunnel"

:-( :-(

If you can't say something nice........ SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!

That's why I didn't tell her she looked like she'd been in line with the sheep.
