Dear All

Hello

This one is for the ladies but if fellas want to post, then fine too!

No discrimination on my threads. :-)

Females are constantly bombarded with media images of what they should
look like, wear, eat, etc.

Are you happy with the way you look and do you have a personal style?

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth,
xx

No ofcourse I am not happy with the way I look. I used to be pretty and interesting. Now at best my look is lived in an interesting.. Do I care well yes but do I care enough is a different matter. Would I pay money to change my looks ...if I won the lottery would I change NO I would still want to be me .

Yes and no. I wish I could lose a little weight. I worked out that every 10 years since the age of 20, a stone has slowly crept on. :-(
So, pre 20 I weighed 6 stone. 20 - 30 (and 2 children) 7 stone, 30 - 40 8 stone, 40 - 50 9 stone. I'm now 57. I'm not obese - just heavy for me!
At least I can say it's taken me 57 years to achieve this weight :-D

Why is it that the 'laughter lines' I had as a young woman are now referred to as 'crow's feet'? They're no different now to how they used to be. I've just laughed more :-D

Hello Elizabeth :-)

I was looking at a photo of myself from childhood days yesterday and ended up sniggering at what an awful scuffy kid I looked like back then, but on further examination , I realised I had a very happy smile on my face in the picture .
I haven't changed much as an adult , still wearing tatty clothes , still have unkept hair ( with a home cut fringe ) and best of all , I still have a smile on my face :-D

The Bible mentions a painted sepulchre which is not nice inside and therefore pretty worthless.

As I get older, I find I no longer see beauty as I once did. With many women, there is a great inner beauty that is extremely attractive. Julia Neuberger, Shirley Williams, Harriet Harman and Mary Peters all have that beauty. Some of the most attractive women (on the surface) seem to have hardly any real inner beauty at all.

I don't really bother too much, as long as I am clean I'm happy.

I home-dye and cut my hair, rarely wear any make-up, live in trousers and tops for scruffy or best and have a few well earned wrinkles.

I have never been in a financial position to follow fashion trends, so have always made the best of what I could afford.

I am happy, healthy and grateful for it
:-D :-D

I think most of us will have 'bits' that we don't like, but it is only minor bother. Most of us are happy to be healthy. I know i would prefer to be the weight and shape I was in my 40s/50s but it isn't going to happen as I'd have to lose over 2 stone. My Oh now refers to me as 'cuddly'. But then he has not got room to talk. :-D :-D

AnnCardiff Report 28 Feb 2014 20:55

well I'm not too dissatisfied, all in all

I've lost one and half stone which is nice and now weigh about the same as when I married - I wish I'd had a breast reduction years ago as I have a 32JJ and it ain't nice I can tell you

I used to have highlights but as my hair has now turned almost completely silver grey I no longer have the expense, plus I inherited my Dad's curly locks

Every morning I look in the mirror and see my Mum looking back at me - I do take care of my skin and hope I look younger than I actually am - I met up with a group of old school mates from grammar school and thought they all looked like little old ladies - not me for sure :-D

I also keep up to date with what I wear

The main problem is that I still think I am 28......... then I walk past a mirror and get a fright :-(

I've often been told that I don't look my age, I'm sure I don't act it either (who made up the rules that we had to stop doing some things when we reach a certain age?).

I'd like to lose some weight........... there's a skinny woman inside me, screaming to get out, I feed her chocolate and she shuts up.

:-D

The second problem is gravity! I'm sure the earth sucks.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 1 Mar 2014 07:34

Oh no, I am not! I hate the extra weight I have gained, I hate the way my hair has thinned and gained frizzy curls from somewhere (it used to be straight as could be) and I hate the way my chin has doubled up. My skin isn't too bad but my eyelids have taken over so my eyes look small and piggy, my eyelashes are sparse and my eyebrows never recovered from the plucking I did when younger! The worse bits are around my mouth, where the lines have deepened due to my teeth and gums changing, and my skin is saggy and changes my face shape.

I found a pic of myself and ex from 40 years back and I had a long slim firm neck and jawline, my hair was thicker, dark and glossy and my eyes even behind my large specs (fashionable at the time) looked larger and brighter. I wouldn't mind my hair being grey now if it was still as full and healthy looking as then or I could colour it all those lovely shades that dark hair can take, purples, pinks and burgundy.

And worse of all, I too look in the mirror and see my mother, face, apple shape and all.

Oh to turn the clock back!

I couldnt be happier, I lost weight last year and have managed to keep it off so far, as for aging well thats just nature init you cant do nowt about that.

I work with lots of young uns, and are all shapes and sizes and they all seem very happy with themselves which is fantastic, when I think about it , its actually some of the lads that talk about their diets and are gym bunnies. :-D

I am happy and comfortable with the way I look now. I was seven stone six-lbs when I got married forty-six years ago, I am now nine stone five lbs, and I think I look better. I have always had a very healthy and active life style. I have not used soap and water on my face for forty years, and remove my make up EVERY night. I am so lucky I have inherited from my Mothers side of the family who all have lovely skin. I think it is important (for me anyway) that I look good, so I take a pride in my appearance, I love clothes, shoes, handbags, perfume, all the “girlie” stuff. I am fortunate that I don’t have any serious health issues which allows me to still be active. I think the way you feel about yourself reflects on the way you look, I love to practise my Yoga, and try to fit some in everyday its all about body mind and spirit.

We are all individual what is right for one person may not be for someone else, if you are not happy then try to change it. Be Happy!

My hair has changed from red to white, my hairdresser tells me women pay a fortune to get this colour, and I have lots of it so that's good.
My waist is bigger too but .........I'm healthy and that has to be a privilege for growing older :-D......agrees with BC<3

Thinking now of putting a poem I wrote a few years ago
........'Time Flies'

I used to like 'power dressing' at work etc. but now incline towards jeans, jumpers and wellies. You can't escape the passage of time, and I don't like the various effects of thinning (hair), thickening (waist) and gravity :-D. However I have cut down my calories without drastic dieting and upped the exercise to keep the spread at bay! I have all my bits in all the right places and people don't scream so I guess I'm pretty average. I enjoy good health which is always the greatest blessing.

I can live with it.

Not keen on the beard and bushy eyebrows. The teeth are going now as well.

I do miss having blackheads. They were my all consuming hobby for many years.
