Cynthia I like the or near enough, living in Spain the heart of saint days and fiestas I think the near enough must used often, :-D :-D

Usually to do with the dates they died (or near enough). If there is a query on the death, then the date of their canonisation may be used.

Dates are taken from the ancient manuscripts and books which still exist from that time and from tradition over hundreds of years.

I think the vatican is a bit like the government, they need to justify their position by inventing things like Saints days ;-) ;-)

Why do they fall on the days they do.
St David´s is because he died supposedly on March 1st 569
St George also on his death in 303 anybody witness the death?
St Piran . (as today is)*shrugs* I don´t know
