I don't usually ask for this but please think about my friend whose three year old granddaughter is trying to die.

She has been on antibiotics all her life and will soon have used up all options and is now in hospital with pneumonia.

Born with cerebral palsy it was thought to have been the result of a difficult birth but it looks like there is more to it She has a little peripheral vision and rolls her eyes all the time, can't speak but produces copious amounts of saliva but doesn't know about swallowing.

All her sustenance is through a peg which now has yeast infections around it most of the time. She does enjoy the taste of food but, once it is in her mouth, that is where it stays because she doesn't know to swallow it and wouldn't even know to scratch an itch.

She is adequately sustained and this is a better situation since the operation to relieve the constant acid reflux when they found that her inability to support herself is so deep seated that she can't even support her internal organs.

She is dearly loved but even my mate, who is at her bedside now, can't see any joy for her in what future she has.

In a past life she would never have seen a second day. Antibiotics are wonderful and I am so grateful for their existence but, just sometimes, they do prolong the agony.

Bless her, poor little soul as you say, no joy in her future. Sending her my thoughts that she will be comfortable and pain free. And thinking of her family too, it must seem so hard watching her suffer as she must be doing, she must be loved so much.

It is just one of a string of difficult times for them all and, of course, all the little girl has ever known.

Apparently her lungs are having to be cleared for her and she really doesn't want it to happen.

She just wants to be left alone.

I think sometimes modern medicine tries to do too much.

May that little girl be at peace.

Bless her, I hope this dear little girl can leave her pain and suffering soon, but with enough help not to struggle any more as it happens. I am sure there must be things that can be done to help ease her way to something better, with loved ones gone ahead to take care of her.

How hard it must be for her family to see how much she is struggling and how much they will miss her when she goes. My thoughts are with them and with her, may she find peace soon.
