I have a 'no win no fee' solicitor who has been doing this for 30 years.
We have a statement from Michael plus one from a fellow worker from the 1976's.
This solicitor has won many cases but she just needs one more piece of information .
I am looking for photos of old Plessyt buildings, towcester, northants.Uk,
I have trawled through photo libraries etc.
I will on board the suggestion to place an advert in the local paper.
I have contacted someone who posted here in the last 3/4 years stating that her husband had died and had worked in the same place as Michael.
If she is reading this the only info I would like is the name of the solicitor her family used.
Then s/he can contact my solicitor.

I would honestly go with one of the big expert firms for this
Not only do they know the exact way through everything
They seem to force the outcome more readily
It would be easier to have people who remember the job but they will get round it

Thank you all for your replies and information such a big help.
In the UK it seems that the burden of proof tends to fall onto the families.I have an excellent solicitor but is pressurising us to find more people who worked with my husband.not such an easy task.
I am touched you all replied.

There is a general fund covered by companies insurance policies
They have known this epidemic was coming for decades and prepared for it.
Because when you have been exposed to asbestos it's not IF you will become unwell
it's when.
Because your husband died of mesothelioma and asbestos is the only cause and he made the statement before he died I think you will find it will be fairly straight forward
The firms that do this litigation know exactly how to get to the point
We were astonished how fast dads was. But the reality was they have the fund
They don't want to haggle
It is a hell of a lot cheaper for them than a private prosecution where they may have to pay millions

Don't forget, if a firm guilty of causing asbestosis related diseases is taken over by another firm - that firm is now responsible, at least it was in the UK
My BiL died of mesothelioma about 6 years ago - fortunately (or not - time will tell) my ex was working with him at the same place/same time.
Firm was taken over, and my sister still got compensation.

slatergordon.co.uk

They have a section on the website for asbestos and mesothelioma claims
Looks like you need to be quick there is a 3 year limit on claims

Hi Alison
Sorry to hear about your husband
My dad also died of mesothelioma in 2012
We are nzers but dad was compensated by an Australian fund for asbestos exposure and received $500,000 dollars within around 6 weeks
The law firm was Slater Gordon in Australia but they
are world wide and have offices in London
They are experts at this kind of compensation
Get hold of them ASAP
They take no upfront payment they take there fee when you are compensated
Dad had a few old photos of himself at work
They also placed newspaper ads and looked at histories written around his workplaces
The reality is that you don't get mesothelioma without asbestos
Honestly though give them a call tomorrow
They really are excellent

There seems to have been asbestos at several Plessey sites.

If you google "Plessey asbestos" there are quite a lot of websites, some of which mention claims and solicitors involved.

Hi Allison, and welcome to GR.

The following link is to the Asbestos Diseases Society of Australia. Tho organisation may know of a similar one in the UK whom you can contact.

The subject of Asbestos related disease is a very big one in Australia, particularly in Western Australia (where I live) as asbestos was mined here at Wittenoom in the North West. The town was abandoned many years ago and all services removed. I believe that it no longer appears on tourist maps...for obvious reasons
