Laddo applied for driving licence end of June because his autism is a condition you have to notify them of we were prepared for a medical and lo and behold dr calls as hes had a form from them asked Nath questions over phone and sent form back. By September still not heard so rang and yes was taking longer than expected as they had a backlog would be another 12 weeks which took us up to December, that came and went so rang again still a delay but they would make his a priority. Sent a complaint about length of time as 8 months was ridiculous for a licence not a good response t that but then he gets another letter want another medical with their approved dr. had to done within 6 weeks. The fuss I had getting the appointment for him and he had it today just within the 6 week limit. Sent him in he then came and got me and dr asked me the questions while watching Nath and said this really is overkill by DVLA. Even asked me as his mother that knows him best would I be happy with him driving, well I am even prepared to take him out like I did Lissy after hes had a few lessons to give him practice so yes I am. |

Daughter teaches horse riding and she teaches autistic kids from a special school one day a week, the teacher of them asked if she minded teaching them and she said no as her brother has it and they got talking about driving as Lissy said the trouble he was having getting a licence, teacher said all those at school of the age drive and can do it as everything has to be precise so althought hey dont see danger as much as us they are good because they follow the rules to the letter. |
