Only one more sleep until Western Australia's own personal Federal Senate Election.

We had one last year as part of this great Nation's Federal Elections, but then, somehow 1370 voting papers went missing :-S

As some of the election results were as close as six votes, the Court Of Disputed Returns referred the whole matter to the Federal Judiciary which decided WA would have to go to the polls again, at a cost of about $70 million.

We have six Senator positions in WA.

In this Election we have 77 candidates, at least ten of whom don't even live in the State, and at least twenty Political Parties many of which appear to be Whackos and single issue...not necessarily WA issues.

Oh...and already 75 early votes have been handled inappropriately at a Nursing home and those electors will have to vote again

Roll on Sunday

it doesn't matter who you vote for........ you'll end up with yet another pollie who doesn't listen to the people who voted.

Well, all done and dusted.

And I can guarantee that if Clive Palmer's candidate doesn't get elected, he (Clive Palmer) will immediately question the result and demand a recount.

Oh for the days of Palmerston and Disraeli: even Bob Hawke and John Howard, when politicians, whilst still not trusted, at least gave the impression of representing the electors.

CP appears to represent no one except himself :-|

Hi AnnC

Your first post is correct, and Clifford married Adelaide Coe.

The second one I don't think is related. 'My' Clifford was 79 when he died in 1930. Also when he married my grandmother he was 44 and she was 22; the age of the Clifford you found doesn't tally

I have nudged the thread 'Trying to find Clifford Mortimer' up on the Find Ancestors Board

I hope that you are keeping well :-)

Cheers

Our current Prime Minister would love to have an elected Senate in Canada

That was one of his earliest campaign platforms, about 12 years ago

................... I think I should send him that url :-D
