Following the programme about Brian Epstein, I am watching a sounds of the sixties programme.

Did we really watch Pinky and Perky AND Lenny the Lion?

It's not al bad though, Jos Brown is on now!

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 5 Apr 2014 09:33

The same Joe Brown who was a trainee engine driver, and cooked eggs on the shovel in the tender!

With the bloke whose pipe had made one of his teeth crooked.

I saw him on " This Is Your Life" with Eamonn Andrews as well.

Quite the sophisticate, I was down at the disco with my Bacardi and Coke!

It always made me sick, but it was THE drink to have!

#walks off shaking head and muttering!#

Blimey! You two knew how to live :-0 :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 14:48

It wasn't quite as bad as Pernod and lemonade though was it?

That tasted the same way both ways!

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 5 Apr 2014 16:02

Island, of course I knew how to live! Just a whiff of the barmaid's apron, and I was a gonner!

Pernod and lemonade

Bacardi and coke

Scotch and coke

Gin and tonic....................

You name it, I tried it.....................................................................once!

:-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Snake bite.

Not just any snake bite either. I once thought it might be a good idea to drink it made with Festival Vat ( a strong cider pressed for the Silver Jubilee I think) and a strong lager, it could well have been Lowenbrau or Kronenburg.

Why? I ask myself. What was I trying to prove?

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 5 Apr 2014 16:46

Dont talk to me about cider!

Ever had that when you lay your head down on the pillow.............the room spins.........and you have to sit up again?

That was cider!

The Whirling Pit.........

Ah those were the days, went to a party sometime in the late seventies and somehow or another managed to drink my way through a few dribbles short of a bottle of vodka.

( Didn't remember going home or much of the next two days. )

It always had to be with orange squash, not juice and preferably Kia Ora.

Just the thought of it now. Yuk. M.

I can vouch for the fact that liqueurs have the same effect if you drink along the shelf.

It was not the going round and round or even the bed rocking from side to side that I didn't like. It was the walls and ceiling going in and out.

Are you sure that cider wasn't 'scrumpie' MTG ;-)

Felt wretched after a night out on that many moons ago!

On another occasion after drinking Vodka and Coke at a social was 'very delicate' so to speak :-0

My mum was babysitting and when I told her what I had to drink she
she said 'you shouldn't drink that Coke it's too oily' ! Bless her <3

reminds me of the nights out we had in Dortmund, in the 60's

could always tell what kind of a night we'd had by how high we were "sitting" in bed.....

Oh gawd. Just seeing the word 'cider' makes me dizzy. Where's the upchuck emoticon.

I was a very cheap drunk, two halves of DD and I was inside out. I never found drinking fun.

I preferred dancing round me handbag :-D

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 5 Apr 2014 22:53

I can truthfully say I have never drunk scrumpty.

This was the brand of cider that had a bird as its logo. As my dear old
Dad used to say 'pecks yer guts out'.

I have learned my lesson though, I prefer a glass of vino now. And only one at that. I even poke me pinky out when I sip it!

Stop sniggering at the back!

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 23:07

Have never quite understood why anybody would drink wine.

I just don't like it.

Can honestly say I have never been drunk on it. Just about anything else runny and alcoholic.

There was a pub in Portsmouth that sold cider sooooo rough, they had to add blackcurrant squash to it, just to make it palatable - the cheapest wine was nectar after that!!!! :-S

Fancy a sherry with your Sunday lunch Sharron.

Hold you glass out, and I will pour.................................

I do prefer a glass of wine now. I used to drink white ABC [anything but Chardonnay] then progressed onto Rose. Now I prefer a glass of Shiraz. Preferably Australian or Enzed.

Blimey, it makes me sound like I know what I am talking about.....................must be the drink!!!!!!

:-D :-D :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Apr 2014 11:03

No thanks, not sherry.

Drop of gin maybe.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 6 Apr 2014 13:34

Gin .................... I cannot hear that without hearing me dear old Mum, adding Mother's Ruin!

Only once got drunk on Gin. Now that IS a story!

But tis Sunday, and I will not bore you with the details.

Cheers, Pet, whatever you are having, have a wee likkle drinky and a lovely Sunday dinner. Just off to start mine now.
