I accept that Ann but why did Lloyds tell me they would inform S/W so not to worry. IF they had told me to treat sd separate entity as I would have done all would have been fine
But Llloyds told me they would deal with S/W for me

Even though Lloyds photocopied the original, if they no longer had the original they couldn't send a certified copy as no employee in their right mind will certify a copy without seeing the original. It sounds as if they are acting as seperate entities and as such, both need an original or certified copy. Any Tom, Dick or Harry could falsify a photocopy unless there are witnessed signatures to certify it is correct. It is frustrating for you, but the purpose is to prevent fraud. I agree with you that it is odd they sent an uncertified copy as surely they would know it couldn't be used.

Kay I understand that and have no problem as Clerical Medical who are in the same building as S/W and part of Lloyds told me to send to them. But I was told by lloyds that they would contact S/W so not to worry. I am still trying to work out how a death cert copy sent from a bank hasn´t been bank certified.

I will find it all amusing .....one day

SW run a seperate ship to Lloyds,,,,,I cant deal with SW though Lloyds have to phone SW direct in Scotland,,,,,,,,which I hate as I dislike as I can never understand them,,,,thats one accent I dislike.

Employers of SW are not employed by Lloyds,,,,,,, :-D

but I guess I will laugh one day.

I am so close to going for probate and realised that I was missing a balance from Scottish Widows. Now they are part of Lloyds and Lloyda told me they would contact them.
Anyway I phoned Scottish Widows and said I don´t have a balance, they said well we need the original death cert, but you had it from Lloyds bank , who you a part of.
Yes we had a photo copy from them but we need the original or a bank certified copy.
We phoned them said S/W but they no longer had the original to send us. So they couldn´t help.
I probably spent a few euros of phone time trying to understand this, as S/W is a part of Lloyds and they have seen the original death cert. but S/W insist that they need the original or a bank certificated death cert.

Now if Lloyds sent them a copy having seen the original, surely it´s acceptable as they are now the same company.
NO it isn´t and the greatest thing none of them told me :-S so unless I phoned S/W would have continued as they were, apart from they knew Mother dear was dead.
