Lol Sue - actually I haven't . . . yet :-D One of my daughters told me.

I have decided that when they do tell me, I'm going to say how much I like the name Eva . . . and then hope for the best (imo) ;-) :-D

I like the name Juno. Classical. Imo far better than some of the current names being used.

My daughter wouldnt tell us the names of our grandchildren until they were born. Then introduced them!!!! We could hardly say oh 'i dont like that name' which with one we didnt, but have got used to it now., I think it was for that very reason of all the agro., from relatives.

At least you have been included in the discussion Wend.!!!!

My OH and I chose a name for our 3rd child and we decided not to tell anyone before the birth.
About 4weeks before she was born, I told my mum that if it was another girl,we intended to call her.... Harriet.
My mum hated it. She told the rest of the family who hated it too.
She would end up being called Harrie/Harry, they said

We were determined it would be Harriet... until the moment she was born
OH took one look and said "That's not a Harriet, that's a Caroline"
Where did that come from? It wasn't even a name we'd considered

Our 3rd daughter has just turned 21yrs old and prefers to be known as ........ Carrie!

You'll never win with names. I gave my son a name I thought would be suitable for both a child or adult and one that couldn't be shortened. So when he started school it was lengthened!

My youngest grandchild has an old fashioned name that I wasn't keen on, partly because it reminded me of a miserable old lady I knew as a child, but it's surprising how quickly I got used to it and now it seems to suit her.

I also heard the story of a young woman introducing her new baby to a neighbour and saying she was to be called Holly. The woman was horrified "You can't call her that. Holly is a plant, not a person". Her name?.......Ivy!

The baby will be beautiful whatever her name.

I got in trouble for voicing my opinion on my great granddaughters name as some of you will remember...I was told get into the 21st century when I said the name was a title and not a name....Princess!!
They call her Prinny now..my concern was when she goes to school.
Maybe, although Juno is quite nice,it may cause her some ribbing.
Think we have to go along with their strange ideas.
What's in a name?. :-S

Named after a Goddess, much better than the Channel, ( pronounced Chanel ), Diesil, Koko, C.J., Saffire, L.E. ( pronounced Ellie ) and Mindee I have in my class at the moment.

Does it really matter if the call their child Juno.?
all that matters is that they love him. after all its only a name.

Wend Report 28 Apr 2014 10:10

Another one they are considering is Phoenix :-(

The goddess Juno is a fine and noble person to have been named after.

She will not be disappointed if she ever looks up the meaning (Sharon means the broad, flat plain that lies between somewhere and somewhere else!) .

How proud will the child named after a cartoon character or whatever feel?

Children are going to be cruel to each other, they are horrible, they are practicing to be adults!

If you have a name they can pick on they will not be looking for something much more cruel to pick at.

LOL My daughters name,(my choice) was Debra, after Debra Paget......and second middle name after Caron,(Leslie) Caron,

first middle name was Jean, her mothers name

must admit that in early school, she had problems with a teacher that insisted that Debra wasn't spelling her names correctly,
ie Deborah and Karen

I see nothing wrong with the name - are not many of our names derived from Greek and Roman gods/godesses?

Juno, I believe, was the Roman goddess of childbirth amongst other things - an absolutely lovely name and far better than some of the utter tripe people seem to be basing names on in recent times.

O.h.'s first grandchild is Eva. Her father hates his Christian name which was chosen by his mother, and told me when they named their son, that they wanted a name that would sound good at job interviews. Talk about thinking ahead lol
He is Maxwell, but called Max. The surname is a very common one. My son's gf's son is also called Max. It gets very confusing.

I like different names that don't show the age of the person in years to come, all those Kylies and such will be in the same age group now. Much rather a timeless name and not one in vogue right now.

I have a relative who called her baby boy Tosh, which I thought was a nickname but he is registered with that name.

I am not sure I would want to be called Juno. I have a list ready for my son and his gf when/if they start producing grandchildren lol - whether they will be interested in my list is another thing lol

There are so many names to chose from and I am sure your son and d.i.l. could find something else unusual but more appealing. There will always be someone to take the mickey out of name or change it to something cheeky or unkind, or even just funny. It's also important to consider the initials of the full name, one of my Uncles who was a bit of an entrepeneur was F.A.T.

Hope things go well for little one's birth and the name is chosen that suits her to a T. I had a list of several names and didn't know whether I was having a boy or a girl, it took me two or three days to make up my mind which name suited my son, but he is happy with it and it's not very common or 'dateable'

Wend you could tell them these

http://www.behindthename.com/name/juno/comments

'I love this name, but I would never use it for a child because it is my dog's name.'

'Of course, I will never name my child that because she'll be known as the girl named after the pregnant teenager'

and you were right ...

'As a child, I had a parrot that said, "You know who!" (this was all he said for many years), but it came out, "Junohoo!" Thus, Juno became his name.'
