As you are using the word ‘Mom’, did the adoption take place in the UK or another country? On the assumption that it was the UK…..

If you have your mother’s full name, search all members trees on this site, and hope that someone has her listed. Send the tree owner a message. Be careful how you word your message as they may not know about you. Add yourself to your own tree using your birth name.

Add your name and hers to the Adoption Contact Register, and hope that she or another member of your birth family has done as well.

If you have names, yob and possible general area where she was living at the time of your birth, you may like to start a thread on Find Living Relatives. Not only does it get her name out on to the www, other members may be able to help you make contact. Put her name in the title.

Please don’t make personal comments on an open hoard about her personal circumstances at the time; just give basic facts. Eg
My birth name is xxxx. I was born in (year) in (area/town) and given up for adoption. My birth mother is (name). She was (years old/year of birth) and lived in (area/town)

If she was or had been married at the time, give her married surname.
