Dear All

Hello

On this day, Audrey Kathleen Ruston, later known as Audrey Hepburn was born.

Miss Hepburn spent much of her childhood in German-occupied Arnhem during the Second World War.

Later, she studied ballet and then moved to England and found acting work.

She spoke several languages including English, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and German.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After appearing in several British films and starring in the 1951 Broadway play Gigi, Miss Hepburn acted alongside Gregory Peck in "Roman Holiday" in 1953.

Mr Peck generously gave her equal billing on the film posters.

For her role in Roman Holiday, Audrey was also the first actress to win an Oscar,
a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for a single performance in 1954.

The same year, she won a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play for Ondine. Hepburn remains one of few people who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other films included:

"Sabrina", with Humphrey Bogart and William Holden,

"The Nun's Story made in 1959,

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961),

"Charade" (1963),

"My Fair Lady" (1964)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Much over looked parts were in the following productions:

"War and Peace, 1956,

"The Unforgiven", 1960 with Burt Lancaster,

"Robin and Marian", with Sean Connery in 1976.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Audrey was married twice and had two sons.

Between 1988 and 1992, she worked for UNICEF in Africa,
South America and Asia.

She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work
as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 1992.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miss Hepburn was much respected and loved for her humanitarian work,
as well as her acting and her personal dress style.

In January 1993, Audrey Hepburn passed away at the age of 63.
