I left RM 10 years ago. OH is still a postie, he will be leaving next year.

It is not a job that I would now recommend to anyone.

It will not be getting any better, the more other companies are allowed to cherry pick the better parts of the delivery service the worst it will get.

However, I will say one thing, that I used to say to my mum when she complained about not getting mail everyday. Are you expecting any mail. They can only delivery what has been posted. I know I can go days without anything coming through my letter box, but then I am not expecting anything!!!! :-D

Here in New Zealand it was decided that in towns the mail would be delivered no more than 3 times a week! Luckily protests about the same applying to rural mail was abandoned. We still get it 6 times a week. And we have a friendly postie. If I see her when I am going to town I stop to collect my mail, save her the bother of coming up our very rough road, all 700metres of it. She really appreciated that when there were trucks coming down loaded with logs, last year. As they had trailers also loaded with logs they were not something you would want to encounter on a corner or narrow part of the road.

I sent a strongly worded complaint to Royal mail about 10 days ago, my post used to be delivered between 10:am and 12 Noon, since the beginning of April this year it has been getting delivered between 16:30pm and 18:00pm.

I cornered the postman the other week, he did not have a good grasp of English, I think he was from Eastern Europe, anyway I asked him what the hell was going on with our postal deliveries, and to be honest I don't think he could understand a word I was saying.

I live in a sheltered housing scheme which is made up of two separate areas each area is in a differently named street, and what I discovered beggared belief, he did not know what street he was in - and was delivering the mail for, lets call it Street A, to addresses in the other street which I will call Street B.

I suppose this is the improved service that the Business Secretary Cable said the public would receive when he defended the controversial floatation of the royal mail.

I think that as postal workers retire from/or leave Royal Mail, that they are being replaced by untrained people on the minimum wage and that the service will only get worse.

TNT were heavily fined recently for poor deliveries - eg. bundles of small packets found under some bushes, on a few occasions.

The only thing I seem to get in the post is bills. And I'm too worried about them arriving late ;-)
So what's with the cards? Is it your birthday?
