Welcome to the boards Robin

I do not use the records on here myself.....but could it be that GR do not hold records for NZ (only UK) including any military records?

Having just scrolled through the collections I cannot see any other country mentioned

I had two Uncles, Cyril Conway (reg No 28978) and Herbert (Harry) Conway who enlisted for WW1 in Wainui Banks peninsular, New Zealand in 1916.
Harry also enlisted in Christchurch for WW2 in 1940. (REg no 8628 Sgt)
According to you, there are no records of either.
Why?
