The role of Matrons, who were qualified nurses, in our hospitals, was replaced by managers/administrators who had no experience of nursing - now it appears that Police Superintendents are to be replaced by, for a better word - managers, who have no experience of police work, these individuals could become Police Superintendents after 18 months training. |

Probably not Maggie, but how many politicians really know about how the real world we scrape by in works.....or doesn't when they come up with yet another stupid idea :-| |

Fully agree, Kitty. Politicians should work for at least 3 months on the 'front line' of the area they will be in charge of. |

The police ( the bosses and therefore the men) are all now political pawns. This is just one step further along the way and is now a fact of life |

Perhaps it will bring about an improvement. After all. many of the current incumbents don't have a lot to write home about. |

I don't agree that many of the current incumbents don't have a lot to write home about - there will be some, as there are always a few incompetent people in many organisations who should not be in senior positions. |

Well not so long ago while Sasha was in hospital ,I was informed that the person in charge of the ward was "A Matron" which was a bit of a surprise to Sasha because that role was usually taken by a "Staff Nurse" It seems that the role of Matron has been downgraded somewhat. :-( |
