Welcome to the boards Susan

If your mothers parents married, you should be able to find their names by searching for a marriage using just their surnames try here

Was the event in England or Wales?
If so you would need to send away for a copy of your mother's birth certificate to be able to see full information.
Certificates are currently £9.25 from the GRO.

If your mother was born before 1911, she should appear in the census with her family.

Post some details on the Find Ancestors board if you'd like someone to look for her.

Hi - I have a name, place and date of birth and managed to find the birth reference … but I can't see the birth certificate - I am looking for my mother's parents - and I would need to see the full birth certificate to get that information … what should I do next?
